 Today's Daily Encounter Monday, October 28, 2024

The Beauty of God's Grace

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.1

Grace is much more than a prayer before eating: the word communicates the idea of blessing. As believers, we are the recipients of grace, which is poured out upon us by our Heavenly Father. Let's see how we experience this amazing benefit of His love.

God's favor is seen in our salvation (Ephesians 2:8), an undeserved and unearned blessing. Nothing in us motivated God to save us. He acted out of His goodness; sacrificing His Son Jesus Christ in His place. In this way, we were able to be reconciled to the Father. When we are saved, we move from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:12-13). Here, we live out our new identity as children of God and carry out His purpose to glorify Him.

The beauty of grace becomes evident when we consider how we were spiritually dead, living according to our own selfish interests (Ephesians 2:1). But now, through faith in Christ as our Savior, we have been justified by God and given new life. He has declared us righteous before Him (Romans 8:1). All our sins were laid upon Christ, and we have been declared righteous.

Imagine yourself living in God's favor. Internalize this truth, and then thank Him.

Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to save us and have eternal life. Thank you for that undeserved gift, because we didn't have to do anything for our salvation. Thank You, Lord, that we can enjoy Your amazing love and the beauty of Your grace. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
