Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 31

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 31 “What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them”  (Mark 11:24) Faith is not working up by will power a sort of certainty that something is coming to pass, but it is seeing as an actual fact that God has said that this thing shall come to pass, and that it is true, and then rejoicing to know that it is true, and just resting and entering into it because God has said it. Faith turns the promise into a prophecy. While it is merely a promise it is contingent upon our co-operation; it may or may not be. But when faith claims it, it becomes a prophecy and we go forth feeling that it is something that must be done because God cannot lie. Faith is the answer from the throne saying, “It is done.” Faith is the echo of God’s voice. Let us catch it from on high. Let us repeat it, and go out to triumph in its glorious power. Hear the answer from the throne, Claim the promise, doubting one, God ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 31

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 31 Morning  “Bring forth fruits meet for repentance.”  Judges 2:6-16  We will now return to the Bible narrative.  Judges 2:6  After a good sermon, the fittest thing is diligent practice.  Judges 2:7  Mighty is the influence of good men. Pray that God may preserve to us useful ministers and holy men in the church. They act as anchors to the church, which else might drift into error. How well is it for the good cause that our great Joshua never dies.  Judges 2:8 , Judges 2:9  The best of men must finish their course in due season: even those who live longest die at last, and so must we.  Judges 2:12 , Judges 2:13  Gross infatuation, to leave the true God for idols, the work of men’s hands.  Judges 2:14 , Judges 2:15  Sin must be chastened in God’s people. Even though others transgress with impunity, the Lord’s chosen shall not. Alas! what misery comes of d...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 31

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 31 “Presence of Mind ”  - Proverbs 3:25-26 When God is abroad in judgments, He would not have His people alarmed. He has not come forth to harm but to defend the righteous.  He would have them manifest courage. We who enjoy the presence of God ought to display presence of mind. Since the LORD Himself may suddenly come, we ought not to be surprised at anything sudden. Serenity under the rush and roar of unexpected evils is a precious gift of divine love.  The LORD would have His chosen display discrimination so that they may see that the desolation of the wicked is not a real calamity to the universe. Sin alone is evil; the punishment which follows thereupon is as a preserving salt to keep society from putrefying. We should be far more shocked at the sin which deserves hell than at the hell which comes out of sin.  So, too, should the LORD’s people exhibit great quietness of spirit. Satan and his serpen...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 31

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 31 Tozer in the Morning "I WILL NOT FORSAKE YOU!" Men without God suffer alone and die alone in times of war and in other circumstances of life. All alone! But it can never be said that any true soldier of the Cross of Jesus Christ, no man or woman as missionary or messenger of the Truth has ever gone out to a ministry alone! There have been many Christian martyrs, but not one of them was on that mission field all alone. Jesus Christ keeps His promise of taking them by the hand and leading them triumphantly through to the world beyond. We can sum it up by noting that Jesus Christ asks us only to surrender to His lordship and obey His commands. When the Spirit of God deals with our young people about their own missionary responsibility, Christ assures them of His presence and power as they prepare to go: "All power is given unto Me! I am no longer in the grave. I will protect you. I will support you. I will go ahea...

Worthy Brief - March 31, 2026

Worthy Brief - March 31, 2026  The lamb must be chosen! Exodus 12:4-6  And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. 5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, 6  and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight.  There is something deeply intentional in God’s instruction concerning the lamb. He does not tell Israel to take a lamb at the last moment -- He commands them to choose it on the 10th day of Nisan, set it apart, and live with it until the 14th day. This was not random timing; it was divine design. For four days, the lamb would be in the house. It would be seen, observed, and known. It would not remain distant -- it would become familia...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 31st March 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 31st March 2026 March 31 Deuteronomy 9:6 6Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people. Need some humble pie? Try this verse! We get things backward today thinking we have been so good that God should bless us. Wrong! All our righteousness is like filthy rags. If we were not blessed, we would be whining complaining, and possibly even forsaking God. He gives only what we can bear, and for some of us that is not very much. Mature souls have a heart to learn from God and endure many trials. The more willing you are to learn the more difficulty comes your way to teach you. Along with the difficulty comes great grace. Never get to thinking the blessings are because of your goodness. If there is any goodness in your life, it is the goodness of God which has come through the Holy Spirit. If you should yield to His Spirit, and learn and grow s...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 30

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 30 “I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 1:2) In the way of righteousness is life and in the pathway thereof is no death. That is the secret of healing. Be right with God. Keep so. Live in the consciousness of it, and nothing can hurt you. Off from the breastplate of righteousness will glance all of the fiery darts of the devil, and faith be stronger for every fierce assault. How true it is, “Who is he that shall harm you if ye be followers of that which is good?” And how true also, “Holding faith and a good conscience, which some having put away, concerning faith, have made shipwreck.” And yet again, “If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt keep all His statutes and commandments, I will put none of these diseases upon thee that I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” There’s a question God is asking Ever...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 30

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 30 Morning “Fear God. Honour the king.” 1 Peter 2:13-25 1 Peter 2:13 , 1 Peter 2:14 True religion is always the friend of order, as well as of liberty. The gospel is no doctrine of anarchy, and the Christian is no fomenter of strife, 1 Peter 2:13 , 1 Peter 2:14 Civil government is necessary for the well-being of mankind, and those who delight in the law of the Lord are among the last to wish to see its power weakened, or its executive despised. We had sooner suffer wrong, than see our country the prey of lawless mobs. 1 Peter 2:15 Men are ready enough to speak against our holy faith, and in Peter’s day the charge was laid against Christians that they were the enemies of social order; the habitual obedience of Christians to the laws of the countries in which they were scattered was the most conclusive answer to the calumny. 1 Peter 2:16 Believers are the freest of men, but they know the difference between lib...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 30

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 30 Tozer in the Morning MAN'S VIEW OF THIS WORLD If you have ever given much thought to this present world in which we live, you have some idea of the power of interpretation. The world is a stable fact, quite unchanged by the passing of years, but how different is modern man's view of the world from the view our fathers held. The world is for all of us not only what it is; it is what we believe it to be, and a tremendous load of wealth or woe rides on the soundness of our interpretation! In the earlier days, when Christianity exercised a dominant influence over American thinking, men conceded this world to be a battleground. Man, so our fathers held, had to choose sides. He could not be neutral-for him it must be life or death, heaven or hell! In our day, the interpretation has changed completely. We are not here to fight, but to frolic! We are not in a hostile foreign land; we are at home! It now becomes the bounden du...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 30

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 30 “Prayer, Thanksgiving, Praise ” - Philippians 4:6-7 No care but all prayer. No anxiety but much joyful communion with God. Carry your desires to the LORD of your life, the guardian of your soul. Go to Him with two portions of prayer and one of fragrant praise. Do not pray doubtfully but thankfully. Consider that you have your petitions, and therefore thank God for His grace. He is giving you grace; give Him thanks, Hide nothing. Allow no want to lie rankling in your bosom; "make known your requests." Run not to man. Go only to your God, the Father of Jesus, who loves you in Him. This shall bring you God’s own peace. You shall not be able to understand the peace which you shall enjoy. It will enfold you in its infinite embrace. Heart and mind through Christ Jesus shall be steeped in a sea of rest. Come life or death, poverty, pain, slander, you shall dwell in Jesus above every rolling wind or dark...

Worthy Brief - March 30, 2026

Worthy Brief - March 30, 2026 This is your beginning: when God steps into your Egypt! Exodus 12:2-3  This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. 3 Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household.  There is something deeply powerful in the way God introduces Passover (Pesach) in Exodus. He does not begin with a list of instructions.  He begins with divine intervention. Israel is enslaved, bound under Pharaoh, and crushed beneath a system they have no power to escape. Yet right in the middle of that helplessness, God speaks: "This month shall be for you the beginning of months." In that moment, God reveals a dual prophetic reality. On one level, He is establishing His calendar -- declaring Nisan as the first month, the beginning of months for Israel. But on a deeper level, He is declaring something far...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 3oth March 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 3oth March 2026 March 30 Deuteronomy 8:5 5Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you. The word 'discipline' means 'to teach'. God is always trying to teach His children. The previous verses in yesterday's devotion showed us that trials in life teach us of our dependency on His Word. The lesson is humility. The teaching method is needed. In this verse we are told about the heart of the teacher. He has a father's heart. No wonder Jesus called God 'Daddy' (Abba). The word of God tells us that even Jesus learned through the things He suffered. If Father God would take His beloved Son, Jesus, through difficulty to teach Him, then how much more do we need it? We often pray to be delivered from illness, to escape a trial, to be rescued from situations, and we should look to God when we are in trouble. The lesson we see in the wilderness wanderings of Israel, is that of our att...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 29

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 29 “He will keep the feet of His saints” (1 Samuel 2:9) Perils as well as privileges attend the higher Christian life. The nearer we come to God, the thicker the hosts of darkness in heavenly places. The safe place lies in obedience to God’s Word, singleness of heart, and holy vigilance. When Christians speak of standing in a place where they do not need to watch, they are in great danger. Let us walk in sweet and holy confidence, and yet with holy, humble watchfulness, and “He will keep the feet of His saints.” And “now unto Him who is able to keep us from stumbling, and present us faultless before the presence of His glory, to the only wise God, our Saviour, be glory, and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.” What to do we often wonder, As we seek some watchword true, Lo, the answer God has given, What would Jesus do? When the shafts of fierce temptation, With their fiery darts pursue, This will be your heavenly ar...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 29

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 29 Morning “Whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.” Proverbs 16:17-33 Proverbs 16:17 Keep thy way and God will keep thee; but let it be the Kings highway, the ancient, well-trodden way, marked out by authority, and traversed by the Prince of pilgrims himself. Proverbs 16:18 Pride must have a fall. As the mercury in the barometer foretells the weather, so does pride warn us that a humbling time is near. Proverbs 16:19 It does not seem so, and few would choose it, but the Word of God knows best. The sharer of the spoil is afraid that he may lose it again, and probably is even now discontented and greedy for more, but the lowly mind is satisfied, and so possesses happiness. Proverbs 16:20 To trust God in all our matters is the wise way of handling them. Let us trust him in all things this day. Proverbs 16:21 The really wise will be discovered, and shall have the credit they deserve; and those who can speak at...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 29

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 29 “Dauntless Faith ” - Acts 18:10 So long as the LORD had work for Paul to do in Corinth, the fury of the mob was restrained. The Jews opposed themselves and blasphemed; but they could neither stop the preaching of the gospel nor the conversion of the hearers. God has power over the most violent minds. He makes the wrath of man to praise Him when it breaks forth, but He still more displays His goodness when He restrains it; and He can restrain it. "By the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone, till thy people pass over, I LORD." Do not, therefore, feel any fear of man when you know that you are doing your duty. Go straight on, as Jesus would have done, and those who oppose shall be as a bruised reed and as smoking flax. Many a time men have had cause to fear because they were themselves afraid; but a dauntless faith in God brushes fear aside like the cobwebs in a giant’s path. N...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 29

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 29 Tozer in the Morning GEARED INTO THINGS ETERNAL The coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost was a gracious experience of fulfillment and blessing and direction for the Christian church. It was the continuing emphasis for believers that we must live to gear ourselves into things eternal and to live the life of heaven here upon earth. We must yield our first obedience and loyalty to Jesus Christ, at any cost! Anything we try to offer God tbat is less than that really is a degradation of the Christian church. Frankly, I would rather be a member of a group that meets in a little room on a side street than to be part of a great activity that is not New Testament in its doctrine, in its spirit, in its living, in its holiness, in all of its texture and tenor. The Spirit-filled and Spirit-led congregation will be a joyful people. Beyond that, it will be useful and caring and compassionate! I do believe that the Christia...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 29th March 2026 March 29 Deuteronomy 8:3-4 3He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. 4Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. God tested Israel in the wilderness in order to know what was in their heart. It was not as if our all-knowing God couldn't see their hearts. They needed to see how faithless and proud their own hearts were. So do we! Because of our sinful nature we get the ridiculous idea that we are independent creatures. We think we can take care of ourselves. That is why we are taken through wilderness experiences. When the LORD sets his love upon you, the most gracious thing He can do for you is to show you truth. The truth is that you are a dependent creature, dependent upon the Word of God for air, water, food, ...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 28

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 28 “The fruit of the Spirit is all goodness” (Galatians 5:22) Goodness is a fruit of the Spirit. Goodness is just “Godness.” It is to be like God. And God-like goodness has special reference to the active benevolence of God. The apostle gives us the difference between goodness and righteousness in this passage in Romans, “Scarcely for a righteous man would one die, yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.” The righteous man is the man of stiff, inflexible uprightness; but he may be as hard as a granite mountain side. The good man is that mountain side all covered with velvet moss and flowers, and flowing with cascades and springs. Goodness respects “whatsoever things are lovely.” It is kindness, affectionateness, benevolence, sympathy, rejoicing with them that do rejoice, and weeping with them that weep. Lord, fill us with Thyself, and let us be God-men and good men, and so represent Thy goodness. There are lonely he...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 28

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 28 Morning “Men ought always to pray.” Luke 18:1-14 Our time will be well spent if we study one of our Lord’s discourses upon prayer. It consists of two parables. Luke 18:1 To commence prayer is easy, but to continue in it is another thing. We too often flag and grow remiss, and so we lose the blessing. Luke 18:5 He was a wicked, unfeeling man, ready enough to pervert justice and grant the suit to the oppressor; his petitioner was a poor woman, bereft of her natural protector, and quite unable to affect his hard heart by her sad tale; yet her importunity won her suit, he was afraid of being tired to death, and therefore he attended to her cry. Every part of the parable strengthens our case, for we deal with a faithful and gracious God, who is ready to hear us; we are poor and feeble, it is true, but we have a powerful Advocate in the great Husband of the church; therefore if we do not obtain our request the ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 28

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 28 “Lead the Way ” - Deuteronomy 28:13 If we obey the LORD, He will compel our adversaries to see that His blessing rests upon us. Though this be a promise of the law, yet it stands good to the people of God; for Jesus has removed the curse, but He has established the blessing. It is for saints to lead the way among men by holy influence: they are not to be the tail, to be dragged hither and thither by others. We must not yield to the spirit of the age, but compel the age to do homage to Christ. If the LORD be with us, we shalt not crave toleration for religion, but we shall seek to seat it on the throne of society. Has not the LORD Jesus made His people priests’’ Surely they are to teach and must not be learners from the philosophies of unbelievers. Are we not in Christ made kings to reign upon the earth? How, then can we be the servants of custom, the slaves of human opinion? Have you, dear friend, taken u...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th March 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th March 2026 March 28 Deuteronomy 7:7-8 7The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. 8But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your forefathers that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Why does the LORD set His love on certain ones? In the case of Israel, we see that He simply chose to love them, and it was in keeping with the oath He made to their forefathers. That oath began with Abraham, the man of faith. Our relationship with God can affect future generations that follow us. God chose to love the world. He sets His love upon all who by faith receive what Jesus did for them. The result of Jesus' life of obedience is like that of Abraham, but it is the ultimate fulfillment of the foreshadow, Abraham. We, too, were delivered from th...

Christian Quote of the Day - A Discontented Heart

Christian Quote of the Day - A Discontented Heart Murmuring is no better than mutiny in the heart; it is a rising up against God.  When the sea is rough and unquiet, it casts forth nothing but foam.  When the heart is discontented, it casts forth the foam of anger, impatience, and sometimes little better than blasphemy.  Murmuring is nothing else but the scum which boils off from a discontented heart. — Simeon Ashe (died 1662) https://christianquote.com

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 27

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 27 “What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee” (Psalms 56:3) We shall never forget a remark Mr. George Mueller once made in answer to a gentleman who asked him the best way to have strong faith. “The only way,” replied the patriarch of faith, “to learn strong faith is to endure great trials. I have learned my faith by standing firm amid severe testings.” This is very true. The time to trust is when all else fails. Dear one, if you scarcely realize the value of your present opportunity, if you are passing through great afflictions, you are in the very soul of the strongest faith, and if you will only let go, He will teach you in these hours the mightiest hold upon this throne which you can ever know. “Be not afraid, only believe”; and if you are afraid, just look up and say, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee,” and you will yet thank God for the school of sorrow which was to you the school of faith. O brother, give heed to th...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 27

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 27 Morning “Quicken thou me according to thy word.” Psalms 119:17-32 As we have now ended the book of Joshua, we will select a few passages from other portions of the Bible before we continue the history. We will again read a part of David’s wonderful panegyric upon the book of God in Psalms 119:17 Our lives are preserved by God’s bounty, and should be devoted to his service. True life is the product of rich grace, and always reveals itself by holy obedience to the divine will. Psalms 119:18 The Scriptures are full of wonders, and especially they reveal him whose name is “Wonderful,” but we need to have our eyes opened by the Holy Spirit, or we shall see nothing aright. Far enough are we by nature from being able to keep the law, for we cannot even understand it without divine teaching. Psalms 119:19 Stranger as I am to the world, let me not be a stranger to thy will. With thy precepts as my map I shall find...
