Free Salvation: Salvation is the free gift of God, but it is not cheap. The most precious thing to God is the blood of His Son Jesus. If our salvation is received as a free gift someone had to pay for it.
True Vine Devotional: June 1st “ I am the True Vine ” - John 15:1 All earthly things are the shadows of heavenly realities—the expression, in created, visible forms, of the invisible glory of God. The Life and the Truth are in Heaven; on earth we have figures and shadows of the heavenly truths. When Jesus says: “I am the true Vine,” He tells us that all the vines of earth are pictures and emblems of Himself. He is the divine reality, of which they are the created expression. They all point to Him, and preach Him, and reveal Him. If you would know Jesus, study the vine. How many eyes have gazed on and admired a great vine with its beautiful fruit. Come and gaze on the heavenly Vine till your eye turns from all else to admire Him. How many, in a sunny clime, sit and rest under the shadow of a vine. Come and be still under the shadow of the true Vine, and rest under it from the heat of the day. What countless numbers rejoice in the fruit of the vine! Come, and take, and eat of the he...
Wayside Chapel Dailu Devotional 2nd June 2025 6/2 Acts 20:28 28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. Paul was speaking to the elders of Ephesus, whom he referred to as overseers. The KJV translates the word as "bishop." Paul first tells them to pay careful attention to themselves. Leadership in the church has many challenges. We desperately need humble servant leaders that follow Jesus with their whole heart. There are many temptations in ministry: pride, abuse of authority, sexual misconduct, slothfulness, and many more. The faithful shepherd will pay attention to his spiritual life first, as he cannot lead others where he is not willing to go. Accountability to other elders in the church is an absolute necessity. Then Paul reminds the elders that it was the Holy Spirit that put them in the position of overseers so that they could shephe...
Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional: May 31st “Be of Good Cheer ” - John 16:33 My LORD’s words are true as to the tribulation. I have my share of it beyond all doubt. The flail is not hung up out of the way, nor can I hope that it will be laid aside so long as I lie upon the threshing floor, How can I look to be at home in the enemy’s country, joyful while in exile, or comfortable in a wilderness? This is not my rest. This is the place of the furnace, and the forge, and the hammer. My experience tallies with my LORD’s words. I note how He bids me "be of good cheer." Alas! I am far too apt to be downcast. My spirit soon sinks when I am sorely tried. But I must not give way to this feeling. When my LORD bids me cheer up I must not dare to be cast down. What is the argument which He uses to encourage me? Why, it is His own victory. He says, "I have overcome the world." His battle was much more severe than mine. I have not yet resisted u...
