'Wisdom Made Known' — Ephesians 3:9-12 (Praying with Paul)

'Wisdom Made Known' — Ephesians 3:9-12 (Praying with Paul)

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" October 19th

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" October 19th “O death, where is thy sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:35-58 We will now finish Paul’s wonderful resurrection chapter. 1 Corinthians 15:35-38 The insinuation is, that a dead body decays and cannot be raised again. Paul has little patience with the sceptical question, and cries, 1 Corinthians 15:35-38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his or rather its 1 Corinthians 15:35-38 You cannot tell from looking at a seed what the plant is to be, neither can we determine from our present bodies what their future form will be. How lovely is the flower compared with the shrivelled grain! How fair will our bodies be in comparison with these trembling frames! 1 Corinthians 15:41 As all these things differ from each other, so will the resurrection body differ from that in which we now live. It will be the same body as to identity, yet will it differ in many important points. 1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown...

Days of Heaven Upon Earth Devotional for October 19

Days of Heaven Upon Earth Devotional for October 19 “Denying ungodliness” (Titus 2:12) Let us say, “No,” to the flesh, the world and the love of self, and learn that holy self-denial in which consists so much of the life of obedience. Make no provision for the flesh; give no recognition to your lower life. Say “No” to everything earthly and selfish. How very much of the life of faith consists in simply denying ourselves. We begin with one great “Yes,” to God, and then we conclude with an eternal “No,” to ourselves, the world, the flesh and the devil. If you look at the ten commandments of the Decalogue, you will find that nearly every one of them is a “Thou shalt not.” If you read the thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians, with its beautiful picture of love, you will find that most of the characteristics of love are in the negative, what love “does not, thinks not, says not, is not.” And so you will find that the largest part of the life of consecration is really saying, No.” I ...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for October 19

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for October 19 Tozer in the Morning GOD AND THE INDIVIDUAL When the eternal Son of God became the Son of Man and walked on this earth, He always called individuals to His side. Jesus did not come into the world to deal with statistics! He deals with individuals and that is why the Christian message is and always has been: "God loves the world! He loves the masses and throngs only because they are made up of individuals. He loves every individual person in the world!" In the great humanistic tide of our day, the individual is no longer the concern. We are pressed to think of the human race in a lump. We are schooled to think of the human race in terms of statistics. In many nations, the state is made to be everything and the individual means nothing at all. Into the very face and strength of this kind of humanism comes the Christian evangel, the good news of salvation, wondrously alight with the assurance for all who will listen:...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for October 19

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for October 19 “Regulated Chastisement ” - Jeremiah 30:11 To be left uncorrected would be a fatal sign: it would prove that the LORD had said, "He is given unto idols, let him alone." God grant that such may never be our portion! Uninterrupted prosperity is a thing to cause fear and trembling. As many as God tenderly loves He rebukes and chastens: those for whom He has no esteem He allows to fatten themselves without fear, like bullocks for the slaughter. It is in love that our heavenly Father uses the rod upon His children. Yet see, the correction is in measure": He gives us love without measure but chastisement "in measure." As under the old law no Israelite could receive more than the "forty stripes save one," which ensured careful counting and limited suffering; so is it with each afflicted member of the household of faith-every stroke is counted. It is the measure of wisdom, the...

Worthy Brief - October 19, 2026

Worthy Brief - October 19, 2026 When the treasure is greater than the tomb! Matthew 25:1, 5-6 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom... But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’” In our last devotional, "When the treasure is greater than the tomb", we saw Yeshua standing outside a grave in Bethany and calling Lazarus back to life. He is m'chayeh hametim (מְחַיֵּה הַמֵּתִים) the One who gives life to the dead. Death is not the end. Let's now look at the parable of the ten virgins and ask the question: if resurrection is real and the Bridegroom is coming, how are we to live today? His coming is linked to a wedding. To understand this parable, it helps to know how a Jewish wedding worked in Yeshua’s time. It began with a betrothal, a binding promise. Then the bridegroom, the chata...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 19th October 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 19th October 2026 October 19 Psalms 73:24-26 24You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. 25Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. In this beautiful poem Asaph asks God why it seems the wicked have all the fun and never seem to pay the price. When he went into God's sanctuary, he understood that in the end they will meet with justice. Asaph was troubled by how bad his attitude had been while envying the wicked. He said he was like a wild beast only concerned about the physical. Then he pondered the wonder of God loving someone with such impure and selfish motives. Why would God love someone so ignorant? Why does He stay with us and hold our hand? What a wonder that He would guide us with His counsel and afterward receive us into glory! When we consider where we are coming from and where He ...

G-d's Minute 19th October 2026

G-d's Minute 19th October 2026  AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE WILL SERVE  THE LORD.                          ( JOSHUA 24:15 *NIV )      As a child of God, we are to strive to become as much like  Christ as we can possibly be.  Remember that Christ came as  a Servant, not as a Great King, and Serving others is an  important way of becoming more like Jesus!      After all our Savior Jesus Christ said: "FOR EVEN THE SON  OF MAN DID NOT COME TO BE SERVED, BUT TO SERVE,  AND TO GIVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR MANY."    ( MARK 10:45 )      Therefore we should also, BE VERY CAREFUL TO KEEP  THE COMMANDMENT AND THE LAW THAT MOSES THE  SERVANT OF THE LORD GAVE YOU:  TO LOVE THE LORD  YOUR GOD, TO WALK IN OBEDIANCE TO HIM, TO KEEP  HIS COMMANDS, TO HOLD FAST TO HIM AND TO SERVE  HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEA...
