Days of Heaven Upon Earth Devotional for October 18

Days of Heaven Upon Earth Devotional for October 18 “All things are naked and open unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” (Hebrews 4:13) The literal translation of this phrase is, all things are stripped and stunned. This is the force of the Greek words. The figure is that of an athlete in the Coliseum who has fought his best in the arena, and has at length fallen at the feet of his adversary, disarmed and broken down in helplessness. There he lies, unable to strike a blow, or lift his arm. He is stripped and stunned, disarmed and disabled, and there is nothing left for him but to lie at the feet of his adversary and throw up his arms for mercy. Now this is the position that God wants to bring us to, where we shall cease our struggles and our attempts at self-defence or self-improvement, and throw ourselves helplessly upon the mercy of God. This is the sinner’s only hope, and when he thus lies at the feet of mercy, Jesus is ready to lift him up and give him that free salvat...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for October 18

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for October 18 Tozer in the Morning A BELIEVING REMNANT What is God trying to do with His believing people?-the Bible calls us a remnant according to grace, believers taken out of the great, teeming swarm of so-called religious people in today's world. I am inclined to join others in wondering if the Lord is postponing His coming because He is trying to get His Bride ready? For years it has been the popular idea in evangelical Christianity that the whole body of believers in Christ would rise like a flock of frightened birds when the Lord comes. But A.B. Simpson and William MacArthur and others in the past generation said, "Oh no! The Lord will take with Him those who are prepared and ready for His coming!" I do not presume to give an answer satisfying to everyone in our churches. But I know that many Christians are too smug about this, saying in effect: "I am converted to Christ through grace, so I can live as I please...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 18th October 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 18th October 2026 October 18 Psalms 71:18-20 18Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come. 19Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God, you who have done great things. Who, O God, is like you? 20Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. What difficulties will old age bring? What fears do you have of aging? Perhaps you are already there. God is with you. Just as He has been every day of your life, and if you have been walking with Him, you may find greater assurance and peace in your old age. Several saints have said that in their old age they do not have as many signs of God's presence because they had learned to walk by faith. Even so, He will not forsake you, even when your body lies in the grave. It is then that you will know it was worth every tr...
