Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 8

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 8 Tozer in the Morning Ministry Methods Once the prophet, the apostle, the reformer, saw a vision or heard a voice, or in later times had an encounter with God through the holy Scriptures and went out firm and sure to declare the Word of the Lord. Now we watch the world to get our next cue and when we have been tipped off as to what our latest "burden of the Word of the LORD" (Zechariah 12:1, KJV) shall be, we rush out and breathlessly declare the expected message as if we had been with Moses on Mount Sinai. It takes a war, an election, race tensions or an outbreak of juvenile crime to afford subject matter for our modern prophets. . . .The world always moves first and the church comes meekly after, trying pitifully to look and sound like her model and at the same time maintain a weak religious testimony by inserting a dutiful commercial now and then to the effect that everybody ought to accept Jesus and be born ag...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 8

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 8 “He that eateth Me, even He shall live by Me” (John 6:57) What the children of God need is not merely a lot of teaching, but the Living Bread. The best wheat is not good food. It needs to be ground and baked before it can be digested and assimilated so as to nourish the system. The purest and the highest truth cannot sanctify or satisfy a living soul. He breathes the New Testament message from His mouth with a kiss of love and a breath of quickening power. It is as we abide in Him, lying upon His bosom and drinking in His very life that we are nourished, quickened, comforted and healed. This is the secret of Divine healing. It is not believing a doctrine, it is not performing a ceremony, it is not wringing a petition from the heavens by the logic of faith and the force of your will; but it is the inbreathing of the life of God; it is the living touch which none can understand except those whose senses are exercised to know the rea...

Worthy Brief - September 8, 2026

Worthy Brief - September 8, 2026 The soil that receives the King!  Matthew 13:18–23 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart … But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." Yesterday we looked at Yeshua (Jesus)'s command to shema, to hear in such a way that we respond. Now the parable takes us deeper, because even the best seed cannot produce a harvest if the ground will not receive it. Notice what never changes in the story. The Sower does not change. The seed does not change. Only the soil changes. Yeshua identifies the seed as "the Word of the kingdom," and then He tells us exactly where that seed lands: "in his heart." In Hebraic thought, the heart, lev (לֵב), is far more than the seat of emotion. The lev is the inner perso...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 8th September 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 8th September 2026 September 8 Nehemiah 9:3 3They stood where they were and read from the Book of the Law of the LORD their God for a quarter of the day, and spent another quarter in confession and in worshiping the LORD their God. After celebrating the Feast of Booths, the people gathered again to hear the Word read to them and to finish confessing their sins. The prayer in Nehemiah 9 is a summary of the history of Israel. It begins with recognizing God for His greatness, that He is the Creator, and that all things come from Him. They continued with their own history of being called by God and delivered from Egypt, kept and fed in the wilderness, and given God's directions for living, for their good. Yet they had refused to listen. They recounted their forefathers' evil deeds of idol making and turning their back on God. God still helped them conquer their enemies. They acknowledged their ungrateful response to all that God had done. In abundan...
