Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 26

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 26 “It Will Not Be Long ”  - James 5:8 The last word in the Canticle of love is, "Make haste, my beloved," and among the last words of the Apocalypse we read, "The Spirit and the Bride say, Come"; to which the heavenly Bridegroom answers, "Surely I come quickly." Love longs for the glorious appearing of the LORD and enjoys this sweet promise - "The coming of the LORD draweth nigh." This stays our minds as to the future. We look out with hope through this window.  This sacred "window of agate" lets in a flood of light upon the present and puts us into fine condition for immediate work or suffering. Are we tired? Then the nearness of our joy whispers patience. Are we growing weary because we do not see the harvest of our seed-sowing? Again this glorious truth cries to us, "Be patient." Do our multiplied temptations cause us in the least to waver? Then ...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 26

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 26 Tozer in the Morning Faith Despite Feeling or Sight A fanatic is somebody seeking desirable ends but ignoring constituted means. Seeking to get out of the religious rut is a desirable end. It is right and it is in the will of God. But trying to do it in a manner that is not according to God"s constituted means is all wrong and gets us nowhere. When they want to get blessed, some people try getting worked up psychologically. There are some who, while they have not studied psychology, are master psychologists. They know how to manipulate audiences, knowing when to lower their voices and when to raise them, when to make them sound very sad and all the rest. They know how to get people all worked up. . . . Some people try group dynamics. We all sit around together and practice togetherness, and by practicing togetherness we finally work up some spirituality. What is needed is some old-fashioned, salty horse sense. I am sure t...

Worthy Brief - June 26, 2026

Worthy Brief - June 26, 2026 When strength comes under the King!  Matthew 5:5  Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.  The ancient world prized the wrong kind of strength. Empires rose through conquest, kings measured greatness by territory seized, and the powerful pressed their heel upon the meek as though it were the natural order of things. Into that world -- and into ours -- Yeshua (Jesus) declared something radically different: the earth belongs to the meek. Not to the aggressive. Not to the ambitious. Not to those who take. To the anav. Yet meekness is often misread. Modern ears hear it as weakness -- passive, timid, easily pushed aside. But that is not the biblical portrait. The Hebrew word behind this Beatitude is anav, and it carries no suggestion of powerlessness. It describes a person whose strength has been surrendered to God, whose power is no longer ruled by pride. Moses is the great example. Scripture calls him “very meek, more than a...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 26th June 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 26th June 2026 June 26 1 Kings 19:11-12 11The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. Elijah had come to the mountain of God, the place of fresh inspiration. He saw the wind so strong it broke the rocks. The ground shook with an earthquake. A fire followed the earthquake. But God had not passed by him in any of those events. They preceded God. God came in the gentle whisper. What was this discouraged prophet learning from God's lesson to Him? Perhaps he thought the fire from heaven would transform the hearts of the people causing a national revolt and ret...
