Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 17

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 17 Tozer in the Morning Reverent Worship Many of our popular songs and choruses in praise of Christ are hollow and unconvincing. Some are even shocking in their amorous endearments, and strike a reverent soul as being a kind of flattery offered to One with whom neither composer nor singer is acquainted. The whole thing is in the mood of the love ditty, the only difference being the substitution of the name of Christ for that of the earthly lover. How different and how utterly wonderful are the emotions aroused by a true and Spirit-incited love for Christ. Such a love may rise to a degree of adoration almost beyond the power of the heart to endure, yet at the same time it will be serious, elevated, chaste and reverent. Christ can never be known without a sense of awe and fear accompanying the knowledge. He is the fairest among ten thousand, but He is also the Lord high and mighty. He is meek and lowly in heart, but He is also ...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 17

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 17 “The glory of the Lord shall be thy reward” (Isaiah 58:8) He comes by our side as our helper; nay, more. He comes to dwell within us; to be the life in our blood, the fire in our thought, the faith within us, both in inception and consummation. Thus He becomes not only the recompense of the victor, but the resources of the victory. He is the Captain and the Overcomer in our lives. If we have caught any help that has relieved us of a troubled morning, it has been of Him. He lifts our eyes up unto Himself and delivers us from apathy, from discontent and from fears. He is always the helper in this heavenly competition, and will be the great reward in all the ages to come. If our life is hidden with Him we shall have to go through the same trials that He went through, but we shall not find them too hard. If once we take Him fully as the strength of our life, and our all in all, we shall be able to lay aside all the hindering things that p...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 17

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 17 “Our Field of Battle ” - Deuteronomy 20:4 We have no enemies but the enemies of God. Our fights are not against men but against spiritual wickednesses. We war with the devil and the blasphemy and error and despair which he brings into the field of battle. We fight with all the armies of sin -- impurity, drunkenness, oppression, infidelity, and ungodliness. With these we contend earnestly, but not with sword or spear; the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. Jehovah, our God, abhors everything which is evil, and, therefore, He goeth with us to fight for us in this crusade. He will save us, and He will give us grace to war a good warfare and win the victory. We may depend upon it that if we are on God’s side God is on our side. With such an august ally the conflict is never in the least degree doubtful. It is not that truth is mighty and must prevail but that might lies with the Father who is almighty, wit...

Worthy Brief - June 17, 2026

Worthy Brief - June 17, 2026 You were created to carry His glory! John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.  Habakkuk 2:14  For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.  There is a thread woven through every page of Scripture, yet many believers have never been taught to see it. The Bible is certainly the story of sin and redemption, but beneath that glorious truth runs an even greater Kingdom narrative -- the story of kavod, the manifest glory and abiding presence of the Holy One of Israel, and His unwavering desire to dwell with His people. Every covenant, every altar, every tabernacle, every temple, and every coming of the Lord reveals the same divine purpose: God restoring His dwelling place until the whole earth is filled with His glory. It began in Eden. God did not simply place Adam in a b...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 17th June 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 17th June 2026 June 17 1 Kings 11:4 4As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been. Solomon started with a heart after God. He had learned from his father, David, that God was worthy of all our praise. The blessing of God was upon Solomon, and he was probably the wisest and wealthiest king to ever live. But in prosperity, there is great danger. He had a weakness for women. He married women from the countries that the Lord had forbidden the Israelites to marry. God had warned in the Law that if there should be a king over Israel, he was not to multiply to himself many wives (Deuteronomy 17:17). God warned that wives of other nations would turn his heart from the true God. There are a number of warnings for us in this sad account of the demise of Solomon. The first is to pay attention to the word of God. We may think our abilities or gifts...
