Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for May 6

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for May 6 “Reckon ye also yourselves to be alive unto God” (Romans 6:11) Death is but for a moment. Life is forevermore. Live, then, ye children of the resurrection, on His glorious life, more and more abundantly, and the fulness of your life will repel the intrusion of self and sin, and overcome evil with good, and your existence will be, not the dreary repression of your own struggling, but the springing tide of Christ’s spontaneous overcoming life. Once in a religious meeting a dear brother gave us a most exhilarating talk on the risen life. Then another brother got up and talked for a long time on the necessity of self-crucifixion. A cold sweat fell over us all, and we could scarcely understand why. But after he had got through, a good sister clarified the whole situation by saying, that “Pastor S. had taken us all out of the grave by his address, and then Pastor P. has put us back again.” Don’t go back into the grave again after you have got...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for May 6

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for May 6 “Cure for Envy ”  - Proverbs 23:17-18 When we see the wicked prosper we are apt to envy them. When we hear the noise of their mirth and our own spirit is heavy, we half think that they have the best of it. This is foolish and sinful. If we knew them better, and specially if we remembered their end, we should pity them.  The cure for envy lies in living under a constant sense of the divine presence, worshiping God and communing with Him all the day long, however long the day may seem. True religion lifts the soul into a higher region, where the judgment becomes more clear and the desires are more elevated. The more of heaven there is in our lives, the less of earth we shall covet. The fear of God casts out envy of men.  The deathblow of envy is a calm consideration of the future. The wealth and glory of the ungodly are a vain show. This pompous appearance flashes out for an hour and then is extinguished. Wha...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for May 6

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for May 6 Tozer in the Morning What We Are and What We Can Be Remember, we are compared with what we could be, not just what we should be. God being who He is, and Jesus Christ being His risen and all-powerful Son, anything we ought to be we can be. Anything that God has declared that we should be we can be. In the wonderful book of Romans, perhaps the greatest and most profound book in the Bible, 7 tells us of a man who is struggling and wanting to be something that he feels he cannot be. Finally he gives up and says, "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?" (verse 24). Immediately, Paul says, "Thanks be to God! . . . because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death" (25; 8:2). In Galatians 5:22-23 we read, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Aga...

Worthy Brief - May 6, 2026

Worthy Brief - May 6, 2026  Awaiting the revealing of the sons of God!  Romans 8:19  For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.  The promise of the Kingdom is not distant—it is rooted in identity. When the genealogy of Yeshua (Jesus) is recorded, it reaches all the way back to Adam and declares: “Adam, the son of God” [Luke 3:38]. In Hebraic understanding, a ben (son) is not merely one who is born -- it is one who represents.  A son carries the nature, the likeness, and the authority of his father. From the beginning, humanity was created to reflect God and to express His rule on the earth. This is why identity and function were never separate. In the Biblical worldview, who you are defines what you are entrusted to do. When that alignment was disrupted, it affected not only the relationship but the very order of creation. Yet what was interrupted was not abandoned. Through Yeshua, the Son, that original...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 6th May 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 6th May 2026 May 6 Judges 16:20 20Then she called, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" He awoke from his sleep and thought, "I'll go out as before and shake myself free." But he did not know that the LORD had left him. Samson had walked the fence of serving the LORD and serving his lusts until it finally caught up with him. The flesh wars against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh. Eventually one must win. Samson could not see that flirting with evil would cost him so much. He'd been shown mercy by God again and again and thought that it would never end. This time he crossed the last line. "My Spirit will not always strive with man," the Lord once said. Delilah conned him into telling the source of his strength. Did he really think he would get away with it again, or was he hoping he would be normal so that he could know if she genuinely loved him? Whatever was going on in his mind, he thought he was st...
