Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for April 28

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for April 28 Tozer in the Morning Christmas Breezes For those nations of the earth which have known the story of Jesus, Christmas is undoubtedly the most beautiful time of the year.  Though the celebration of the Savior's birth occurs in the dead of winter, when in many parts of the world the streams are frozen and the landscapes cold and cheerless, still there is beauty at the Christmas season--not the tender beauty of spring flowers or the quiet loveliness of the full-blown summer, or yet the sad sweet graces of autumn colors. It is beauty of another kind, richer, deeper and more elevating, that beauty which considerations of love and mercy bring before the mind.  Though we are keenly aware of the abuses that have grown up around the holiday season, we are still not willing to surrender this ancient and loved Christmas Day to the enemy. Though those purer emotions which everyone feels at Christmas are in most hearts all to...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for April 28

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for April 28 “For it is God which worketh in you” (Philippians 2:13) Sanctification is the gift of the Holy Ghost, the fruit of the Spirit, the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the prepared inheritance of all who enter in, the greatest obtainment of faith, not the attainment of works. It is divine holiness, not human self-improvement, nor perfection. It is the inflow into man’s being of the life and purity of the infinite, eternal and Holy One, bringing His own perfection and working out His own will. How easy, how spontaneous, how delightful this heavenly way of holiness! Surely it is a “highway” and not the low way of man’s vain and fruitless mortification. It is God’s great elevated railway, sweeping over the heads of the struggling throngs who toil along the lower pavement when they might be borne along on His ascension pathway, by His own almighty impulse. It is God’s great elevator carrying us up to the higher chambers of His palace, without...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for April 28

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for April 28 Morning  “Keep the door of my lips.”  1 Samuel 21:1-3 , 1 Samuel 21:6-7  1 Samuel 21:1  David being driven away by Saul from the prophet Samuel, fled at once to the priests. He loved the servants of God, and would not leave their company:  1 Samuel 21:1  Seeing David alone, and evidently in distress, Ahimelech suspected something wrong.  1 Samuel 21:1  Here David spake falsely, and his error is recorded not to his honour, but for our warning. This sad falsehood led to terrible consequences. O that good men could always trust in the Lord.  1 Samuel 21:3 , 1 Samuel 21:6  This act was a violation of the ceremonial law, but in a case of necessity it was justified, for the Lord loves mercy better than sacrifice.  1 Samuel 21:7  This man, being full of enmity, hastened away to accuse the priests of succouring a traitor.  1 Samuel 22:9-23  1 Samuel 22:1...

Worthy Brief - April 28, 2026

Worthy Brief - April 28, 2026 The Kingdom is breaking forth through you!  Isaiah 46:9-13  Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me,  10 Declaring [נָגַד - nagad]  the end [אַחֲרִית - acharit] from the beginning [רֵאשִׁית - reshit], And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,' 11 Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed, I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it.  12 "Listen to Me, you stubborn-hearted, Who are far from righteousness: 13 I bring My righteousness near, it shall not be far off; My salvation shall not linger. And I will place [נָתַתִּי - natati] salvation in Zion, For Israel My glory. God does not predict the future the way a forecaster reads the wind. He declares it — the Hebrew word is nagad, to make cons...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th April 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th April 2026 April 28 Joshua 14:13-14 13Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance. 14So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly. Caleb reminisced with Joshua about spying out the Promised Land some forty-five years earlier. He reminded Joshua about how faithful he was to report that they could take the land because of his godly convictions. Then he reminded Joshua about the promise Moses had made to him. He could have whatever land he walked on. Caleb picked the Hebron area. There were still fortified cities with giants in them, but Caleb knew the LORD was with him. He felt as strong at eighty-five-years old as he did at forty. Joshua blessed Caleb and honored Moses' promise, because Caleb wholeheartedly followed the God of Israel. It sounds like Caleb was going to take the area with his own clan, without the ass...
