Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for April 8

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for April 8 “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (Proverbs 17:22) King Solomon left among his wise sayings a prescription for sick and sad hearts, and it is one that we can safely take. “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” Joy is the great restorer and healer. Gladness of spirit will bring health to the bones and vitality to the nerves when all other tonics fail, and all other sedatives cease to quiet. Sick one, begin to rejoice in the Lord, and your bones will flourish like an herb, and your cheeks will glow with the bloom of health and freshness. Worry, fear, distrust, care, are all poison drops; joy is balm and healing; and if you will but rejoice, God will give power. He has commanded you to be glad and rejoice; and He never fails to sustain His children in keeping His commandments. Rejoice in the Lord always, He says; which means no matter how sad, how tempted, how sick, how suffering you are, rejoice in the Lord just where you ...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for April 8

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for April 8 Tozer in the Morning Praying That Is Praying Juliana of Norwich at the beginning of her wonderful Christian life addressed a prayer to her Savior and then added the wise words, "And this I ask without any condition."  It was that last sentence that gave power to the rest of her prayer and brought the answer in mighty poured-out floods as the years went by. God could answer her prayer because He did not need to mince matters with her. She did not hedge her prayers around with disclaimers and provisos. She wanted certain things from God at any cost. God, as it were, had only to send her the bill. She would pay any price to get what she conceived to be good for her soul and glorifying to her Heavenly Father. That is real praying. Many of us spoil our prayers by being too "dainty" with the Lord (as some old writer called it). We ask with the tacit understanding that the cost must be reasonable. After all, there...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for April 8

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for April 8 “Preserved to Work’s End ”  - Acts 23:11 Are you a witness for the LORD, and are you just now in danger? Then remember that you are immortal till your work is done. If the LORD has more witness for you to bear, you will live to bear it. Who is he that can break the vessel which the LORD intends again to use?  If there is no more work for you to do for your Master, it cannot distress you that He is about to take you home and put you where you will be beyond the reach of adversaries. Your witness-bearing for Jesus is your chief concern, and you cannot be stopped in it till it is finished: therefore, be at peace. Cruel slander, wicked misrepresentation, desertion of friends, betrayal by the most trusted one, and whatever else may come cannot hinder the LORD’s purpose concerning you. The LORD stands by you in the night of your sorrow, and He says, "Thou must yet bear witness for me." Be calm; be fill...

Worthy Brief - April 8, 2026

Worthy Brief - April 8, 2026  The hidden Son revealed: the mystery of the afikomen! Isaiah 53:3-5  He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not. 4  Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5  But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on Him; and with His stripes we ourselves are healed.  Isaiah 53:8-11  He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall declare His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of My people He was stricken. 9  And He put His grave with the wicked, and with a rich one in His death; although He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10  Yet it pleased Jehovah to crush Him; to grieve Him;...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 8th April 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 8th April 2026 April 8 Deuteronomy 15:1, 7-8 1At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts. 7If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. 8Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs. The Jewish faith was intensely practical. Anyone may fall on hard times and need assistance. This was to be a nation where everyone generously helped one another. The Kingdom of God is such a place. If you have extra, your abundance is to share with those who have a need that you both will be blessed. If he can't repay after a period of time, forgive him the debt. Don't hold it against him. Is it more blessed to give than receive? It is, but only if you can do it with a generous spirit thanking the Lord. The Law put Jews under compulsion to do this, and at many times in Israel's history they disregarded the L...
