Worthy Brief - July 26, 2023

Worthy Brief - July 26, 2023 Bloom where you're planted! 1 Cor 12:12  For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. An ancient legend tells of a king who walked into his garden one day to find almost everything withered and dying. After speaking to an oak near the gate, the king learned that he was troubled because he was not tall and beautiful like the pine. The pine overheard their conversation and added that she, too, was upset, for she could not bear delicious fruit like the pear tree. The pear tree heard his name and began to complain that he did not have the lovely odor of the spruce. And so it went throughout the entire garden. Near the very edge of the garden grew a little daisy. As the king approached, he noticed her bright little face, full of life. "Well, little flower," said the monarch, "I'm glad to find that there is at least one happy face in my garden." ...

Today's Daily Encounter Wednesday, July 26, 2023 You are Important "The Lord gave me this message: "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations."1 In the first chapter of Jeremiah, we read the calling of Jeremiah. This is one of those passages that I love reading over and over. Many may believe that this passage applied only to Jeremiah, but we know that the Bible is God's Word to all of us, His people. Therefore, this passage applies as much to you and me as it did to Jeremiah. We may not all be called to be a prophet, but God formed us and has chosen us for an important task. There are three things that stand out to me in today's passage, and that I believe God is reminding us of. I knew you . God knew everything about us even before we were born. God knows us better than we know ourselves! Psalm 139:16 says, "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days o...

This Day's Verse 26th July 2023

This Day's Verse 26th July 2023 “You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 The English Standard Version https://thisdaysthought.org/

This Day's Thought 26th July 2023

This Day's Thought 26th July 2023 To obey God in some things and not in others shows an unsound heart.  Childlike obedience moves toward every command of God, as the needle points where the lodestone draws. Thomas Watson https://thisdaysthought.org/

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional: July 26th

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional: July 26th “A Change of Name ” - Hosea 2:16-17 That day has come. We view our God no more as Baal, our tyrant LORD and mighty master, for we are not under law but under grace. We now think of Jehovah, our God, as our Ishi, our beloved husband, our LORD in love, our next-of-kin in bonds of sacred relationship. We do not serve Him less obediently, but we serve Him for a higher and more endearing reason. We no longer tremble under His lash but rejoice in His love. The slave is changed into a child and the task into a pleasure. Is it so with thee, dear reader? Has grace cast out slavish fear and implanted filial love? How happy are we in such an experience! Now we call the LORD’s day a delight, and worship is never a weariness. Prayer is now a privilege, and praise is a holiday. To obey is heaven; to give to the cause of God is a banquet. Thus have all things become new. Our mouth is filled with singing and our heart with ...
