Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 25

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 25 “The beauty of holiness” (Psalms 29:2) Someone remarked once that he did not know more disagreeable people than sanctified Christians. He probably meant people that only profess sanctification. There is an angular, hard, unlovely type of Christian character that is not true holiness; at least, not the highest type of it. It is the skeleton without the flesh covering; it is the naked rock without the vines and foliage that cushion its rugged sides. Jesus was not only virtuous and pure, but He was also beautiful and full of the sweet attractiveness of love. We read of two kinds of graces: First, “Whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely and of good report.” There are a thousand little graces in Christian life that we cannot afford to ignore. In fact, the last stages in any work of art are always the finishing touches; and so let us not wonder if God shall spend a great deal of time in teaching us the little things that ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 25

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 25 Morning  “Judge not that ye be not judged.”  Joshua 22:1-6 , Joshua 22:10-20  Joshua 22:1-3  It is simple justice to give praise wherever it is deserved. There is a notion abroad, that to commend is dangerous, but wise men of old did not think so. While faultfinding is so abundant, it is refreshing to meet with a man who can speak in praise of his fellows. It is not so very common for men to be thoroughly true to their engagements, and when they are so, they ought to have it mentioned to their honour.  Joshua 22:4 , Joshua 22:5  Having praised them, Joshua now directs them to their further duty. The terms of his exhortation deserve careful notice. They were to do the commandment their religion must be practical; they were to love the Lord their service must be hearty and sincere; they were to walk in all his ways their obedience must be universal; they were to cleave to him it must be ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 25

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 25 “Refreshing Sleep ”  - Proverbs 3:24 Is the reader likely to be confined for a while to the bed by sickness! Let him go upstairs without distress with this promise upon his heart "When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid."  When we go to bed at night, let this word smooth our pillow. We cannot guard ourselves in sleep, but the LORD will keep us through the night. Those who lie down under the protection of the LORD are as secure as kings and queens in their palaces, and a great deal more so. If with our lying down there is a laying down of all cares and ambitions, we shall get refreshment out of our beds such as the anxious and covetous never find in theirs. Ill dreams shall be banished, or even if they come, we shall wipe out the impression of them, knowing that they are only dreams.  If we sleep thus we shall do well. How sweetly Peter slept when even the angel’s light did not wake him, a...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 25

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 25 Tozer in the Morning The Responsibility of Choice Our Lord Jesus looked after the rich young ruler as he walked away, but He did not follow him or attempt to coerce him. The dignity of the young man's humanity forbade that his choices should be made for him by another. To remain a man he must make his own moral choices; and Christ knew this and permitted him to go his own chosen way. If his human choice took him at last to hell, at least he went there a man; and it is better for the moral universe that he should do so than that he should be jockeyed to a heaven he did not choose, a soulless, will-less automaton. God will take nine steps toward us, but He will not take the tenth. He will incline us to repent, but He cannot do our repenting for us. It is of the essence of repentance that it can only be done by the one who committed the act to be repented of. God can wait on the sinning man; He can withhold judgment; He can ...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 25th March 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 25th March 2026 March 25 Deuteronomy 6:10-12 10When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you-a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, 11houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant-then when you eat and are satisfied, 12be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. There is a cycle in the history of man that emphasizes the importance of these verses. When societies and cultures do well and have time for leisure, they tend to become decadent. The old expression, "An idle mind is the Devil's workshop" is only true because the heart of man is evil. Then as the culture becomes more and more vile, it is easily overthrown. God allows an enemy to put an end to the wickedness to turn the people back and stop the destru...

This Day's Thought 25th March 2026 Nothing is small or great in God’s sight; whatever He wills becomes great to us, however trifling, and if once the voice of conscience tells us that He requires anything of us, we have no right to measure its importance. Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 24

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 24 “And again I say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4) It is a good thing to rejoice in the Lord. Perhaps you found the first dose ineffectual. Keep on with your medicine, and when you cannot feel any joy, when there is no spring, and no seeming comfort and encouragement, still rejoice, and count it all joy. Even when you fall into divers temptations, reckon it joy, and delight, and God will make your reckoning good. Do you suppose your Father will let you carry the banner of His victory and His gladness on to the front of the battle, and then coolly stand back and see you captured or beaten back by the enemy? Never! the Holy Spirit will sustain you in your bold advance, and fill your heart with gladness and praise, and you will find your heart all exhilarated and refreshed by the fulness of the heart within. Lord, teach me to rejoice in Thee, and to rejoice evermore. The joy of the Lord is the strength of His people. The sunshine that scatter...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 24

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 24 Morning  “Open thy mouth wide and I will fill it.”  Joshua 15:13-19  We shall now see what Caleb did with his inheritance in the land of promise.  Joshua 15:14  These were giants, but their gigantic stature did not frighten Caleb from attacking them. He who fears God is not the man to fear anyone else.  Joshua 15:15  This Debir appears to have been mastered before, but the Canaanites had re-occupied it. Our sins are very apt to return upon us, and when they do so we must drive them out a second time. The ancient name of Debir is here given, but why it would be hard to say. Kirjath-sepher signifies the city of the book. Since learning was scarce in those days, it may be that this place was famed for its records. Anyhow it was a Canaanitish city, and it was to be captured. Ungodliness is none the better for being associated with education.  Joshua 15:17  This exploit is re...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 24

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 24 “Established and Kept ”  - 2 Thessalonians 3:3 Men are often as devoid of reason as of faith. There are with us still "unreasonable and wicked men." There is no use in arguing with them or trying to be at peace with them: they are false at heart and deceitful in speech. Well, what of this? Shall we worry ourselves with them? No; let us turn to the LORD, for He is faithful. No promise from His Word will ever be broken. He is neither unreasonable in His demands upon us nor unfaithful to our claims upon Him. We have a faithful God. Be this our joy.  He will stablish us so that wicked men shall not cause our downfall, and He will keep us so that none of the evils which now assail us shall really do us damage. What a blessing for us that we need not contend with men but are allowed to shelter ourselves in the LORD Jesus, who is in truest sympathy with us. There is one true heart, one faithful mind, o...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 24

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 24 Tozer in the Morning Putting Up With the Weaknesses of Others The Apostle Paul wrote, "We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves" (Romans 15:1). He thus plainly accepts the fact that there will be infirm persons among the believing members of the spiritual community we call the local church. He tells us to bear them, or bear with them in their weakness.  Now who are the infirm persons in the church? How can we identify them? Not how can we find them, for they are sure to be easiest of all persons to find. Their very infirmities make them conspicuous. The infirm brother is the one who has painful conscientious scruples about foods (Romans 14:1-2); or he has deep convictions about certain holy days (Romans 14:5-6); or his grasp of gospel truth is weak, and he is forced to support himself by various crutches which he may have found in some religious attic. To him these sc...

Worthy Brief - March 24, 2026

Worthy Brief - March 24, 2026  The poison in the field: when deception looks like truth! Matthew 13:26  But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. There is a deeper layer in this parable that moves beyond simply identifying the difference between wheat and tares. Yeshua (Jesus) is not only revealing that the tare looks like wheat -- He is warning that what it produces has the power to affect those who partake of it. The issue is not just imitation; it is ingestion. It is not only what is growing in the field, but what is being received into the heart. In the natural world, darnel -- the tare -- was dangerous not merely because it resembled wheat, but because of what happened when it was harvested and consumed. Its seeds were often infected with a toxic fungus, and when mixed with real grain and ground into flour, it could cause dizziness, disorientation, and even a loss of mental clarity. In some cases, it produced effects similar ...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 24th March 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 24th March 2026 March 24 Deuteronomy 6:4-5 4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. The Jewish people refer to this passage as the Shema (to hear). Jesus said it was the greatest of all the laws of God. He also said that all the Law could be summed up in this passage. First it tells us that YHWH (LORD in all caps) is our Elohim (plural for God in Hebrew). Then it tells us YHWH is one. Here we have the mystery of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are one. There is no difference amongst them. Religions with many gods distinguish the differences and purposes for each god, but the God of the Hebrews is one. We refer to that as monotheism. A perfect God can only be complete unity. If any other were perfect, they would be the same. Then we are commanded to love our YHWH our Elohim with all our heart. That is all our desire should be focused upon ...

Daily Encounter: Eternal Life - A Real Promise for Monday, March 23, 2026

Worthy Brief - March 23, 2026

Worthy Brief - March 23, 2026 Two seeds, two kingdoms! Matthew 13:24-25  Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25  but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.  With so much disinformation and so many voices speaking into our lives, people often ask for my thoughts on who to trust and what to believe. In light of that, I believe it’s time to step into a deeper kind of discernment -- becoming what I would call a fruit inspector. This series is born out of that burden: to learn how to recognize the difference between the wheat and the tares. Yeshua (Jesus), when asked about the events leading up to His return, did not begin with wars, disasters, or global upheaval. His first warning was simple and direct: "Take heed that no man deceive you." That alone tells us something profound. The greatest danger in the last days is not just what is happening aro...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 23

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for March 23 Morning  “His mercy endureth for ever.”  Psalms 136  This psalm may be very fittingly read at this time, for it celebrates the Lord’s dealings with Israel until he had settled them in the land which he had promised to them as a heritage.  Psalms 136:1  Praise the Lord for what he is by nature, for his own personal goodness deserves our adoration.  Psalms 136:3  His sovereignty over all, and his transcendant superiority above all other existences should command our reverent praise at all times. All his power and majesty are sweetened with mercy.  Psalms 136:4  How sweet is the chorus. It comes over and over again, but it never degenerates into a vain repetition. God is to be praised not only for his nature and dignity, but also for his works.  Psalms 136:5 , Psalms 136:6  O thou Creator of all things, we magnify the mercy which shines in all thy handiworks....

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 23

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for March 23 “A Sure Guide ”  - Isaiah 42:16 Think of the infinitely glorious Jehovah acting as a Guide to the blind! What boundless condescension does this imply! A blind man cannot find a way which he does not know. Even when he knows the road, it is hard for him to traverse it; but a road which he has not known is quite out of the question for his unguided feet. Now, we are by nature blind as to the way of salvation, and yet the LORD leads us into it and brings us to Himself, and then opens our eyes. As to the future, we are all of us blind and cannot see an hour before us; but the LORD Jesus will lead us even to our journey’s end. Blessed be His name!  We cannot guess in which way deliverance can possibly come to us, but the LORD knows, and He will lead us till we shall have escaped every danger. Happy are those who place their hand in that of the great Guide and leave their way and themselves entirely with Him. H...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 23

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for March 23 “He is a new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17) Resurrected, not raised. There is so much in this distinction. The teaching of human philosophy is that we are to raise humanity to a higher plane. This is not the Gospel. On the contrary, the teaching of the cross is that humanity must die and sink out of sight and then be resurrected, not raised. Resurrection is not improvement. It is not elevation, but it is a new supernatural life lifting us from nothingness into God and making us partakers of the Divine nature. It is a new creation. It is an infinite elevation above the highest plane. Let us not take less than resurrection life. I am crucified with Jesus, And the cross has set me free; I have ris’n again with Jesus, And He lives and reigns in me. This the story of the Master, Through the cross He reached the throne, And like Him our path to glory, Ever leads through death alone. Lord, teach me the death-born life. Lord, let me live in ...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 23

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 23 Tozer in the Morning Man - The Dwelling Place of God - Boasting or Belittling WE ALL know how painful it is to be forced to listen to a confirmed boaster sound off on his favorite topic - himself. To be the captive of such a man even for a short time tries our patience to the utmost and puts a heavy strain upon our Christian charity. Boasting is particularly offensive when it is heard among the children of God, the one place above all others where it should never be found. Yet it is quite common among Christians, though disguised somewhat by the use of the stock expression, "I say this to the glory of God." Some boasters appear to feel a bit self-conscious, and apologize meekly for their outbursts of self-praise. Others have accepted themselves as being all their doting relatives and friends claim they are, and habitually speak of themselves in reverent terms, as if their superiority was a matter of common knowledge...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 23rd March 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 23rd March 2026 March 23 Deuteronomy 5:29 29Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever! The church of the last century took a giant swing from preaching the fear of God to preaching the love of God. Both are important and both are needed. We need to see all the character of God, as a focus on only one aspect is sure to get us off balance. When Jonathan Edwards preached his famous sermon, Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God, the listeners had such a vision of hell that they clung to their pews for fear of falling in. Today we almost laugh at that image, but remember that people were coming to Christ and confessing their sins. Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 22

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for March 22 Tozer in the Morning Daily Following A strange thing under the sun is crossless Christianity. The cross of Christendom is a no-cross, an ecclesiastical symbol. The cross of Christ is a place of death. Let each one be careful which cross he carries. And follow me. Now the glory begins to break in upon the soul that has just returned from Calvary. Follow me is an invitation, and a challenge, and a promise.
