Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening"Devotional for September 30

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening"Devotional for September 30 Morning “Put ye on the Lord Jesus.” Matthew 22:1-14 Matthew 22:2 , Matthew 22:3 It was their sovereign who invited them, and to refuse his invitation was an act of rebellion. Their presence was intended to render honour to the marriage of their prince, and their resolution to be absent was a studied insult both to the king and his son. God in infinite condescension has decreed to glorify his Son by bestowing his rich grace upon undeserving man, and when man wilfully rejects the favour, he is guilty of insulting the Lord of love. Will any of us live and die in this sin? Matthew 22:4 He was very patient, and condescended to reason with his erring subjects, hoping that perhaps their second thoughts might correct their hasty words. He even pleaded with them, though he might have sent forth his armies at once to destroy them. How true a representation is this of the great Father of mercy! Matthew 22:5 , Mat...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 30

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 30 Tozer in the Morning THE ETERNAL VERITY There is a great deal of discussion now taking place about the lack of spiritual power in our Christian churches. What about the New Testament patterns? Brethren, the apostolic method was to provide a foundation of good, sound biblical reasons for following the Savior, for our willingness to let the Spirit of God display the great Christian virtues in our lives. That is why we come in faith and rejoicing to the eternal verity of Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever!" This proclamation gives significance to every other section of teaching and exhortation in the letter to the Hebrews. In this verse is truth that is morally and spiritually dynamic if we will exercise the faith and the will to demonstrate it in our needy world. I think this fact, this truth that Jesus Christ wants to be known in His church as the ever-living, never-changing Lord of all,...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 30

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 30 “Needs to Open Our Mouths ” - Psalms 81:10 What an encouragement to pray! Our human notions would lead us to ask small things because our deservings are so small; but the LORD would have us request great blessings. Prayer should be as simple a matter as the opening of the mouth; it should be a natural, unconstrained utterance. When a man is earnest he opens his mouth wide, and our text urges us to be fervent in our supplications. Yet it also means that we may make bold with God and ask many and large blessings at His hands, Read the whole verse, and see the argument: "I am Jehovah, thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it." Because the LORD has given us so much He invites us to ask for more, yea, to expect more. See how the little birds in their nests seem to be all mouth when the mother comes to feed them. Let it be the same with us. Let ...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 30

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 30 “In the secret places of the stairs” (Song of Solomon 2:14) The dove is in the cleft of the rock—the riven side of our Lord. There is comfort and security there. It is also in the secret places of the stairs. It loves to build its nest in the high towers to which men mount the winding stairs for hundreds of feet above the ground. What a glorious vision is there obtained of the surrounding scenery. It is a picture of ascending life. To reach its highest altitudes we must find the secret places of the stairs. That is the only way to rise above the natural plane. Our life should be one of quiet mounting with occasional resting places; but we should be mounting higher step by step. Everybody does not find this way of secret ascent. It is for God’s chosen ones. The world may think you are going down. You may not have as much public work to do as formerly. “Blessed are the poor in spirit.” It is a secret, hidden life. We may be hardly ...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 30th September 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 30th September 2025 9/30 Colossians 1:11 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy . . . The Christian will face hardships and times of testing. Without these, we will never grow strong in faith. God allows the trials to come into our lives for our eternal benefit. Paul's prayer for the church at Colossae was that they be strengthened according to God's glorious might. The very power that raised Jesus from the dead can be ours to face the times of difficulty in our lives (Ephesians 1:19-20) We must rely on that strength rather than our own. This strength that comes from the Lord enables us to patiently endure the storms of life. Patience implies that it may take some time. However, compared to eternity, every storm of this life is temporary. Paul calls them light and momentary (2 Corinthians 4:17). Considering the hardships he endured, he must have personally experienced th...

Christian Quote of the Day - Past, Present, Future

Christian Quote of the Day - Past, Present, Future Faith hath for its object things past, present, future.  Past, it believes Christ died for our sins, and rose again for our justification.  Present, that He now sits at the right hand of His Father in heaven. Future, that He shall come to judge the quick and dead. — Thomas Adams (1583-1652)  https://christianquote.com

Worthy Brief - September 29, 2025

Worthy Brief - September 29, 2025 God's anger is not forever! Isaiah 57:16-17  For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made. Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain I was angry, I struck him; I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.  The Days of Awe (Yamin Nora'im) remind us of a sobering truth: judgment is real. God is holy and does not overlook sin. Isaiah’s words cut to the heart — iniquity provokes His anger, and rebellion invites His discipline. Israel knew this firsthand, experiencing exile and the pain of God’s hidden face. And yet, this passage does not leave us in despair. For though His anger burns for a moment, His mercy is eternal. He declares, “I will not contend forever.” His discipline is corrective, not destructive; His goal is not to crush but to restore. This is the hope of the Yamim Nora’im. These days are a call to repe...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for September 29

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for September 29 Morning “Forgive if ye have aught against any.” Mark 11:12-26 Mark 11:14 Fig trees put forth their fruit before their leaves: it was not yet time for figs, and yet this pretentious tree was covered with leaves. It promised far more than other trees, and then deceived those who came to it for fruit. It was meet that a blight should fall upon this type of hypocrisy, this symbol of boastful falsehood. Proud professors of religion, whose actions are not right in the sight of God, should tremble lest the like curse should light on them. Mark 11:15-18 Though purged so short a time before, the temple was foul again. Nothing is so hard to make clean and keep clean as a degenerate church. It should be the daily prayer of all who love the pure gospel that in these degenerate times the Lord Jesus would by his Holy Spirit, and the power of divine truth, cleanse out of our churches all false doctrines, Popish prac...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 29

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 29 “Call not thou common” (Acts 10:15) “There is nothing common of itself” (Romans 14:14) We can bring Christ into common things as fully as into what we call religious services. Indeed, it is the highest and hardest application of Divine grace, to bring it down to the ordinary matters of life, and therefore God is far more honored in this than even in things that are more specially sacred. Therefore, in the twelfth chapter of Romans, which is the manual of practical consecration, just after the passage that speaks of ministering in sacred things, the apostle comes at once to the common, social and secular affairs into which we are to bring our consecration principles. We read: “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” God wants the Levites scattered all over the cities of Israel. He wants your workshop, factory, kitchen...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 29

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 29 Tozer in the Morning Inescapable Choices When the rich young ruler learned the cost of discipleship he went away sorrowing. He could not give up the sunny side of the brae. But thanks be to God, there are some in every age who refuse to go back. The Acts of the Apostles is the story of men and women who turned their faces into the stiff wind of persecution and loss and followed the Lamb whithersoever He went. They knew that the world hated Christ without a cause and hated them for His sake; but for the glory that was set before them they continued steadfastly on the way. Perhaps the whole thing can be reduced to a simple matter of faith or unbelief. Faith sees afar the triumph of Christ and is willing to endure any hardship to share in it. Unbelief is not sure of anything except that it hates the wind and loves the sunny side of the brae. Every man will have to decide for himself whether or not he can afford the terri...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 29

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 29 “To Glorify Christ Jesus ” - John 16:14 The Holy Ghost Himself cannot better glorify the LORD Jesus than by showing to us Christ’s own things. Jesus is His own best commendation. There is no adorning Him except with his own gold. The Comforter shows us that which He has received of our LORD Jesus. We never see anything aright till He reveals it. He has a way of opening our minds and of opening the Scriptures, and by this double process He sets forth our LORD to us. There is much art in setting forth a matter, and that art belongs in the highest degree to the Spirit of truth. He shows us the things themselves. This is a great privilege, as those know who have enjoyed the hallowed vision. Let us seek the illumination of the Spirit; not to gratify our curiosity, nor even to bring us personal comfort, so much as to glorify the LORD Jesus. Oh, to have worthy ideas of Him! Groveling notions dishonor our pre...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 29th September 2025 9/29 Colossians 1:9-10 9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Epaphras had evangelized Colossae, resulting in a vibrant church that loved their fellow believers and bore fruit unto God. Paul wrote that he had been praying for them to be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. These were people he had never met, and yet the testimonies from this church had prompted his heart to pray for their spiritual growth. When we hear the testimony of a new believer or a new area where a church is formed, we should lift them up in prayer. Paul prayed for them in this way so they would walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. He wa...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 28

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 28 “Work is Done; Rest in Him ” - Hebrews 4:9 God has provided a Sabbath, and some must enter into it. Those to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief; therefore, that Sabbath remains for the people of God. David sang of it; but he had to touch the minor key, for Israel refused the rest of God. Joshua could not give it, nor Canaan yield it: it remains for believers. Come, then, let us labor to enter into this rest. Let us quit the weary toil of sin and self. Let us cease from all confidence, even in those works of which it might be said, "They are very good." Have we any such? Still, let us cease from our own works, as God did from His. Now let us find solace in the finished work of our LORD Jesus. Everything is fully done: justice demands no more. Great peace is our portion in Christ Jesus. As to providential matters, the work of grace in the soul and the work of the LOR...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 28

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 28 “The trial of your faith being much more precious than gold” (1 Peter 1:7) Our trials are great opportunities. Too often we look on them as great obstacles. It would be a heaven of rest and an inspiration of unspeakable power if each of us would henceforth recognize every difficult situation as one of God’s chosen ways of proving to us His love and power, and if instead of calculating upon defeat we should begin to look around for the messages of His glorious manifestations. Then indeed would every cloud become a rainbow, and every mountain a path of ascension and a scene of transfiguration. If we will look upon the past, many of us will find that the very time our heavenly Father has chosen to do the kindest things for us and give us the richest blessings has been the time when we were strained and shut in on every side. God’s jewels are often sent us in rough packages and by dark liveried servants, but within we find the very t...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for September 28 Morning “Who is this?” Matthew 21:1-16 Matthew 21:1-3 He had the hearts of all men under his control, and at once moved the owner to lend his ass. The colt came and its mother at its side, for Jesus would not cause even the meanest creature a needless pain by separating it from its young. Matthew 21:4 , Matthew 21:5 He came in state as a judge, but it was in fitting state, and such as was becoming in a true ruler in Israel; for he did not ride upon the horse which was the boast of Egypt, but on the humbler ass, which ancient lawgivers had been content with. Matthew 21:9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David or, “Save now, we beseech thee” Matthew 21:10 Bishop Hall has well said: “The attending disciples need be at no loss for an answer. Which of the prophets has not put it into their mouths? Who is this? Ask Moses, and he shall tell you, the...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 28

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 28 Tozer in the Morning GLAMOR INSTEAD OF GLORY One ominous sign in the social structure that surrounds us is the false attitude toward anything that can be called "ordinary." There has grown up all around us an idea that the "commonplace" is old-fashioned and strictly for the birds! This existing mania for glamor and contempt for the ordinary are signs and portents in American society. Even religion has gone glamorous! In case you do not know what glamor is, I might explain that it is a compound of sex, paint, padding and artificial lights. It came to America by way of the honky-tonk and the movie lot; got accepted by the world first, and then strutted into the Church-vain, self-admiring and contemptuous. Instead of the Spirit of God in our midst, we now have the spirit of glamor, as artificial as painted death! Say what you will, it is a new kind of Christianity, with new concepts that face us brazenly ...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th September 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th September 2025 9/28 Philippians 4:19 19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Some popular preachers use this verse to say that we will never have difficult times for lack of something. Only a few verses earlier Paul declared that he had learned the secret of being content in facing hunger or plenty, abundance or need. During his time of need in one city, the Philippian believers sent him gifts to support him in his ministry, but he was often penniless. It seems Paul was saying that because they supplied him in his time of need, they would reap what they had sown. God would provide for them in their time of need. That means there would come a time when they would be short of a necessity. However, they could count on God seeing them through and for providing that need at the perfect time. That gives a different take on how we should understand this verse. First, we will all have times of nee...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for September 27

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for September 27 Morning “Occupy till I come.” Luke 19:11-27 Luke 19:11 He would turn their thoughts away from the thrones and glories, which they fondly expected, to the service and duty which really lay before them. Luke 19:12 , Luke 19:13 Use my money in trade till I return. Luke 19:16 Great grace is modest. He did not say I have gained ten pounds, but thy pound hath gained it. Good men say as Paul did, “I laboured, yet not I, but the grace of God which was in me.” Luke 19:19 Those who are alike faithful may not be all equally successful; there is a sovereignty in the results of service as well as in the gifts of grace. Yet all faithful servants are acceptable to their Master. Luke 19:22 , Luke 19:23 with usury or interest. He met him on his own ground, and condemned him out of his own mouth. The character of the master is no rule for the servant, he was bound to do his lord’s will, and if he knew that lord to be s...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 27

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 27 “The Divine Light in Darkness ” - Psalms 18:28 It may be that my soul sits in darkness; and if this be of a spiritual kind, no human power can bring me light. Blessed be God! He can enlighten my darkness and at once light my candle. Even though I may be surrounded by a "darkness which might be felt," yet He can break the gloom and immediately make it bright around me. The mercy is that if He lights the candle none can blow it out, neither will it go out for lack of substance, nor burn out of itself through the lapse of hours. The lights which the LORD kindled in the beginning are shining still. The LORD’s lamps may need trimming, but He does not put them out. Let me, then, listen to the nightingale sing in the dark. Expectation shall furnish me with music, and hope shall pitch the tune. Soon I shall rejoice in a candle of God’s lighting. I am dull and dreary just now. Perhaps it is the weath...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 27

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 27 “The glorious liberty of the children of God” (Romans 8:21) Are you above self and self-pleasing in every way? Have you got above circumstances so that you are not influenced by them? Are you above sickness and the evil forces around that would drag down your physical life into the quicksands? These forces are all around, and if yielded to would quickly swamp us. God does not destroy sickness, or its power to hurt, but He lifts us above it. Are you above your feelings, moods, emotions and states? Can you sail immovable as the stars through all sorts of weather? A harp will give out sweet music or discordant sounds as different fingers touch the strings. If the devil’s hand is on your harp strings what hideous sounds it will give. Let the fingers of the Lord sweep it, and it will breathe out celestial music. Are you lifted above people, so that you are not bound by or to any one except in the dear Lord, and are you standing free i...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 27

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 27 Tozer in the Morning Serious Repentance and Restitution . . . Well, here are some suggestions which anyone can follow and which, I am convinced, will result in a wonderfully improved Christian life. . . . 3. Put yourself in the way of the blessing. It is a mistake to look for grace to visit us as a kind of benign magic, or to expect God's help to come as a windfall apart from conditions known and met. There are plainly marked paths which lead straight to the green pastures; let us walk in them. To desire revival, for instance, and at the same time to neglect prayer and devotion is to wish one way and walk another. 4. Do a thorough job of repenting. Do not hurry to get it over with. Hasty repentance means shallow spiritual experience and lack of certainty in the whole life. Let godly sorrow do her healing work. Until we allow the consciousness of sin to wound us, we will never develop a fear of evil. It is our wretched...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 27th September 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 27th September 2025 9/27 Philippians 4:8 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Thoughts come and go from the stimulus around us, but what we meditate on is our choice. We can accept a passing thought or reject it. Our challenge is to carefully guard which thoughts we dwell on. What you contemplate says a lot about who you are and what you believe. A fearful person will dwell on his or her worries. A workaholic will dwell on his work. An addict will dwell on his or her addiction. The Philippian church had two strong women who were at odds with each other. They were probably dwelling on their differences. The Christian should dwell on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and commendable. That includes the nature of God and His work in our life. It is...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 26

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 26 Tozer in the Morning Friendship Trust It should be pointed out that no revealed truth becomes automatically effective. The effect any truth has upon us depends upon our attitude toward it. First it must be accepted in active faith and received into our minds as completely trustworthy and beyond dispute. It must become a kind of dye to give color to all of our thinking and praying. The more perfect our friendship with God becomes the simpler will our lives be. Those formalities that are so necessary to keep a casual friendship alive may be dispensed with when true friends sit in each other?s presence. True friends trust each other. Tozer in the Evening Refiner's Fire Slowly you will discover God?s love in your suffering. Your heart will begin to approve the whole thing. You will learn from yourself what all the schools in the world could not teach you--the healing action of faith without supporting pleasure. You will f...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 26

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 26 “I will be with Him in trouble” (Psalms 91:15) The question often comes, “Why didn’t He help me sooner!” It is not His order. He must first adjust you to the situation and cause you to learn your lesson from it. His promise is, “I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.” He must be with you in the trouble first until you grow quiet. Then He will take you out of it. This will not come till you have stopped being restless and fretful about it and become calm and trustful. Then He will say, “It is enough.” God uses trouble to teach His children precious lessons. They are intended to educate us. When their good work is done a glorious recompense will come to us through them. There is a sweet joy and opportunity in them. He does not regard them as difficulties but as opportunities. They have come to give God a greater interest in you, and to show how He can deliver you from them. We cannot have a mercy worth pra...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 26

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 26 “Among the Redeemed ” - Numbers 23:9 Who would wish to dwell among the nations and to be numbered with them? Why, even the professing church is such that to follow the LORD fully within its bounds is very difficult. There is such a mingling and mixing that one often sighs for "a lodge in some vast wilderness." Certain it is that the LORD would have His people follow a separated path as to the world and come out decidedly and distinctly from it. We are set apart by the divine decree, purchase, and calling, and our inward experience has made us greatly to differ from men of the world; and therefore our place is not in their Vanity Fair, nor in their City of Destruction, but in the narrow way where all true pilgrims must follow their LORD. This may not only reconcile us to the world’s cold shoulder and sneers but even cause us to accept them with pleasure as being a part of our covenant portion...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 26th September 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 26th September 2025 9/26 Philippians 4:4 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. The Holy Spirit through Paul was not telling us to rejoice in our finances, our health, our relationships, or any other transitory thing. He commands us to rejoice in the Lord. Isn't it wonderful to know that the One who is of infinite worth will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5)? And because of His great worth and His love for us, He is the One in whom we should find our joy. All else is incomparably inferior as a source of joy. We are commanded to rejoice in the Lord always, not just in times of worship or prayer. Christians should always have a deep abiding joy in the Lord. You may not be happy about a tragedy in your life, but you can still rejoice in the fact that our unchanging God who loves us will see us through and use the situation for our eternal good. Christians are the only ones who can have that deep joy in every circumstance of lif...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 25

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for September 25 Tozer in the Morning GAME OF PIOUS WORDS Do you realize that most men play at religion as they play at games? Religion itself being of all games the one most universally played. The Church has its "fields" and its "rules" and its equipment for playing the game of pious words. It has its devotees, both laymen and professionals, who support the game with their money and encourage it with their presence, but who are no different in life or character from many who take no interest in religion at all. As an athlete uses a ball so do many of us use words: words spoken and words sung, words written and words uttered in prayer. We throw them swiftly across the field; we learn to handle them with dexterity and grace-and gain as our reward the applause of those who have enjoyed the game. In the games men play there are no moral roots. It is a pleasant activity which changes nothing and settles nothing, at last. ...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 25

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for September 25 “The faith of the Son of God” (Galatians 2:20) Let us learn the secret even of our faith. It is the faith of Christ, springing in our heart and trusting in our trials. So shall we always sing, “The life that I now live I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Thus looking off unto Jesus, “the Author and Finisher of our faith,” we shall find that instead of struggling to reach the promises of God, we shall lie down upon them in blessed repose and be borne up by them with the faith which is no more our own than the promises upon which it rests. Each new need will find us leaning afresh on Him for the grace to trust and to overcome. Further we see here the true spirit of prayer. It is the Spirit of Christ in us. “In the midst of the church will I sing praises unto thee.” Christ still sings these praises in the trusting heart and lifts our prayers into songs of victory! This is the true spirit of ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for September 25

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for September 25 Morning “Take up the cross.” Mark 10:17-31 Mark 10:17 An inquiry which had been put to him before, but this time it came from one who thought that he had already done all that would entitle him to eternal bliss. The question was not “What is the way of salvation?” but, “How can I merit heaven?” Mark 10:18 The questioner did not know that Jesus was God, and therefore he ought not to have called him good. Mark 10:19 If a man would win heaven by works he must keep these commands and more. Mark 10:20 , Mark 10:21 If he loved God supremely, as the law required, here was a test for him. We are not all called to relinquish our property; but if Jesus bade us do so, and we refused, it would prove that we loved the world better than God, and therefore were very far from keeping the commandments. Mark 10:22 He could not stand the test. He thought that he loved God best, but soon discovered that he did not. Mark ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional: September 25th

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional: September 25th “The Sacrifice Has Been Accepted ” - Judges 13:23 This is a sort of promise deduced by logic. It is an inference fairly drawn from ascertained facts. It was not likely that the LORD had revealed to Manoah and his wife that a son would be born to them and yet had it in His heart to destroy them. The wife reasoned well, and we shall do well if we follow her line of argument. The Father has accepted the great sacrifice of Calvary and has declared Himself well pleased therewith; how can He now be pleased to kill us! Why a substitute if the sinner must still perish? The accepted sacrifice of Jesus puts an end to fear. The LORD has shown us our election, our adoption, our union to Christ, our marriage to the Well-beloved: how can He now destroy us? The promises are loaded with blessings, which necessitate our being preserved unto eternal life. It is not possible for the LORD to cast us away and yet fulfill H...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 25th September 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 25th September 2025 9/25 Philippians 3:15 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Apostle Paul was referring to the realization that we have a long ways to go to get to our goal of Christlikeness. He told the Philippians that he didn't dwell on the past but looked to the future the Lord had in store for him. He was straining toward the finish line. Then he added the words for today. What was Paul addressing? There were two main issues he raised. One was the habit of looking back. Someone has said the idea in a different way, "Looking back is about would of, could of, should of . . ." The past is past. We take the lessons forward, but to dwell on the past keeps us from the task at hand. The best way to deal with yesterday is to ask what God would have you do today. What God did yesterday may not be His plan for you today. Don't limit God. The other issue...

Worthy Brief - September 24, 2025

Worthy Brief - September 24, 2025 Cast into the depths of the sea! Micah 7:19  He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. On the first day of Rosh Hashanah, Jewish tradition observes Tashlich, a ceremony in which worshippers walk to a river, stream, or the sea and cast crumbs of bread into the water. Each crumb represents sin — failures, regrets, brokenness, and rebellion — all symbolically carried away by the current. As the waters sweep them out of sight, the heart finds hope in Micah’s promise: God Himself casts our sins into the depths of the sea. But the Tashlich ceremony is only a shadow of a greater reality. What Israel performed symbolically, Yeshua fulfilled completely. At the cross, He bore our iniquities and carried them away forever. The psalmist declares, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). Unlike breadcrumbs...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 24

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for September 24 “The Life-Giving Stream ” - Ezekiel 47:9 The living waters, in the prophet’s vision, flowed into the Dead Sea and carried life with them, even into that stagnant lake. Where grace goes, spiritual life is the immediate and the everlasting consequence. Grace proceeds sovereignly according to the will of God, even as a river in all its windings follows its own sweet will; and wherever it comes it does not wait for life to come to it, but it creates life by its own quickening flow. Oh, that it would pour along our streets and flood our slums! Oh, that it would now come into my house and rise till every chamber were made to swim with it! LORD, let the living water flow to my family and my friends, and let it not pass me by. I hope I have drunk of it already; but I desire to bathe in it, yea, to swim in it. O my Savior, I need life more abundantly. Come to me, I pray Thee, till every part of my nature is vi...
