Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 30

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 30 “Therefore, choose” (Deuteronomy 30:19) Men are choosing every day the spiritual or earthly. And as we choose we are taking our place unconsciously with the friends of Christ, or the world. It is not merely what ye say, it is what we prefer. When Solomon made his great choice at Gibeon, God said to him, “Because this was in thine heart to ask wisdom, therefore will I give it unto thee, and all else besides that thou didst not choose.” It was not merely that he said it because it was right to say, and would please God if he said it. But it was the thing his heart preferred, and God saw it in his heart and gave it to him with all besides that he had not chosen. What are we choosing, beloved? It is our choice that settles our destiny. It is not how we feel, but how we purpose. Have we chosen the good part? Have we said, “Whatever else I am or have, let me be God’s child, let me have His favor and blessing, let me please Him?” Or have we ...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 30

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 30 Tozer in the Morning LET THE DAY DAWN The Bible tells us that when a person becomes a Christian, it is as though the sun has come up and the day has dawned. Then his experience along the path should be like the glowing light which shineth more and more unto the perfect day! This brings us to a question: if all Christians are alike in standing and state, why did Jesus point out three distinctions in the Christian life-"some thirty, some sixty and some a hundred fold"? If we are all alike and have all "arrived" at the same place and state, why did the Apostle Paul tell the Philippian Christians "I have suffered the loss of all things, that I may know Him and if by any means, I might attain unto that superior resurrection"? I am of the opinion that we cannot experience that which we have not believed. I still think we must instruct and urge men and women, toiling along in average and common Christian ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 30

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 30 Morning “The day of the Lord is great and very terrible.” Joel 2:1-14 It is most probable that while Amos and Hosea were messengers from the Lord to Israel, Joel was prophesying in Judah. One of his most memorable prophecies relates to a plague of locusts which fell upon the land. Joel 2:1 It was such a visitation as might well create alarm, and call to humiliation and prayer. Joel 2:2 The locusts were so many that they clouded the sun and caused darkness at midday. Vast flights of these destructive creatures are not unusual in our day, but the prophet’s description relates to some special and unusual plague. Joel 2:3 It is so; locusts devour every green thing as completely as a raging fire. Joel 2:4 , Joel 2:5 The Italians call a locust cavalette, or little horse: they are for number, speed, order, and noise, very similar to troops of cavalry. Joel 2:6 , Joel 2:8 The order with which they march is wonderf...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 30

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 30 “Back, Then Forward ” - Judges 6:14 Notwithstanding our sins, the LORD is still faithful in His love to us. He looks back. See how He remembers those early days of ours when He took us into covenant with Himself, and we gave ourselves over to Him. Happy days those! The LORD does not twit us with them and charge us with being insincere. No, He looks rather to His covenant with us than to our covenant with Him. There was no hypocrisy in that sacred compact, on His part, at any rate. How gracious is the LORD thus to look back in love! He looks forward also. He is resolved that the covenant shall not fail. If me do not stand to it, He does. He solemnly declares, "I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant." He has no mind to draw back from His promises. Blessed be His name, He sees the sacred seal, "the blood of the everlasting covenant," and He remembers our Surety, in whom He rati...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 30th June 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 30th June 2025 6/30 Romans 11:33 33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! Paul could see that the Jews in large part had rejected their Messiah so that the Gentiles would hear the message. This was God's sovereign plan for the world to hear the message of salvation. Eventually the Jews will acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah (Romans 11:25-27). This revelation caused Paul to burst out in words of praise. Our verse today is the beginning of those words. He begins by praising the wisdom and knowledge of God. God knows all things. He can see every possible scenario and knows the end from the beginning. God's judgments are unsearchable. We mortals complain about the judgments of God here on the earth as if we know something God didn't. God knows every single factor out of the quadrillions involved in each situation. We could never in one lifetime fathom a tiny f...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 29

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 29 “Invitation to Pray ” - Judges 6:14 God encourages us to pray. They tell us that prayer is a pious exercise which has no influence except upon the mind engaged in it. We know better. Our experience gives the lie a thousand times over to this infidel assertion. Here Jehovah, the living God, distinctly promises to answer the prayer of His servant. Let us call upon Him again and admit no doubt upon the question of His hearing us and answering us. He that made the ear, shall He not hear? He that gave parents a love to their children, will He not listen to the cries of His own sons and daughters! God will answer His pleading people in their anguish. He has wonders in store for them. What they have never seen, heard of, or dreamed of, He will do for them. He will invent new blessings if needful. He will ransack sea and land to feed them: He will send every angel out of heaven to succor them if their distress req...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 29

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 29 Tozer in the Morning Make Time to Pray "Am I faithful in prayer?" Ask yourself that. "Well, I'm busy," you say. Yes, you are busy. So was the Lord Jesus. So was Martin Luther. Luther said, "In the morning I have so much work to do that I am going to have to pray longer today." Are you faithful in prayer, and do you meditate on the Word? How much of Scripture have you read lately? Have you read it wth meditation and tenderness? These are a few questions. You can answer them evasively and the snow lies there. Or you can answer them honestly and see the springtime come to your heart. Put yourself in the hands of the One who loves you infinitely. If you have failed Him, you will have to admit that there is a rut or snow on the meadow. Tell Him so--don't hide it. He will not turn His back in anger and say, "You disappoined me and betrayed me." There is a balm in Gilead, plenty of it. ...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 29

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 29 Morning “I will heal their backsliding.” Hosea 11:1-11 Hosea 11:1 The ancient love and grace of God ought to have been a powerful motive for obedience, but it was not. Hosea 11:2 The more they were warned, the more they sinned. Alas, how many do the same! Hosea 11:3 , Hosea 11:4 As the husbandman gives rest to the oxen, removes their yoke, and feeds them, so the Lord set his people free and supplied their needs, and yet they revolted from him. Hosea 11:9 Mark the tender love of God, and his unwillingness to smite his people. The same conflict is in his soul still towards sinners. Such compassion should lead us to repentance. Hosea 11:10 , Hosea 11:11 At last in alarm they would fly to God, and he would save them. Even if sinners come to God entirely out of fear, he will not reject them. Hosea 14 Hosea 14:1 What gracious pleading! Can we reject it as Israel did? If we do, we shall fall as they did. Hosea 14...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 29

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 29 “He dwelleth with you and shall be in you” (John 14:17) Do not fail to mark these two stages in Christian life. The one is the Spirit’s work in us, the other is the Spirit’s personal coming to abide within us. All true Christians know the first, but few, it is to be feared, understand and receive the second. There is a great difference between my building a house and my going to reside in that house and make it my home. And there is a great difference between the Holy Spirit’s work in regenerating a soul—the building of a house, and His coming to reside, abide and control in our innermost spirit and our whole life and being. Have we received Him Himself not as our Guest, but as the Owner, Proprietor and Keeper of the temple He has built to be “an habitation of God through the Spirit”? This is my wonderful story, Christ to my heart has come, Jesus the King of glory, Finds in my heart a home. I am so glad I received Him, Jesus, my heart...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 29th June 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 29th June 2025 6/29 Romans 11:6 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace. In Romans 11 Paul was explaining why the majority of Jews had not yet accepted Jesus as the Messiah. He explained that the current situation was just like it had been in the days of Elijah. Elijah thought he was alone, but God told him there were 7000 that had not bowed the knee to Baal. God's grace had preserved a remnant of believing Jews. Then Paul added our verse for today. It is grace that draws us out of our culture into the kingdom of God and grace that helps us to remain faithful to continue serving God. Christians understand that grace has saved them, and then they desire to please God with their works. They take up a pattern of living that they think God would approve. What begins as a love response can turn into a routine of rule-keeping. When they fail, they feel they have failed God and can't be g...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 28

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 28 “One Look from the LORD! ” - Judges 6:14 What a look was that which the LORD gave to Gideon! He looked him out of his discouragement into a holy bravery. If our look to the LORD saves us, what will not His look at us do? LORD, look on me this day and nerve me for its duties and conflicts. What a word was this which Jehovah spoke to Gideon! "Go." He must not hesitate. He might have answered, "What, go in all this weakness?" But the LORD put that word out of court by saying, "Go in this thy might." The LORD had looked might into him, and he had now nothing to do but to use it and save Israel by smiting the Midianites. It may be that the LORD has more to do by me than I ever dreamed of. If He has looked upon me, He has made me strong. Let me by faith exercise the power with which He has entrusted me. He never bids me "idle away my time in this my might." Far from it. I ...

Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 28 Morning “I would thou wert cold or hot.” Hosea 7 Hosea 7:1 Notwithstanding the goodness of God, and his sending prophets to warn and instruct the people, they went on with all the vices so common to idolatrous nations; they plundered one another, and justice was utterly perverted. Hosea 7:3 Sad is it when the great ones of a nation are patrons of iniquity and take pleasure in falsehood. What can be expected of the common people when the princes delight in crime? Hosea 7:4 They were as hot with depraved desires as a baker’s oven when prepared for baking. Hosea 7:5 Drunkenness and blasphemy were common in the court. Have we not these sins even among us in all ranks of society? Hosea 7:6 As the baker, though he sleeps, rises early to light his fire, so were they, even when they were quiet, meditating fresh sin. Hosea 7:7 , Hosea 7:8 He is neither one thing nor the other; he professes to fear God and yet worships idols...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 28

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 28 “Leaning upon her beloved” (Songs of Solomon 8:5) Shall you make the claim most practical and real and lean like John your full weight on the Lord’s breast? That is the way He would have us prove our love. “If you love me lean hard,” said a heathen woman to her missionary, as she was timidly leaning her tired body upon her stalwart breast. She felt slighted by the timorous reserve, and asked the confidence that would lay all its weight upon the one she trusted. And He says to us, “Casting all your care upon Him for He careth for you.” He would have us prove our love by a perfect trust that makes no reserve. He is able to carry all our care, to manage all our interests, to satisfy all our needs. Let us go forth leaning on His breast and feeding on His life. For John not only leaned but also fed. It was at supper that he leaned. This is the secret of feeding on Him, to rest upon His bosom. This is the need of the fevered heart of man. L...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 28

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 28 Tozer in the Morning Evidence of the Spirit at Work Someone wrote to me recently asking what I meant by a statement which occurs in the booklet Paths to Power, which I wrote some years ago. The passage reads: "No one was ever filled with the Holy Spirit without knowing it. The Holy Spirit always announces Himself to the human consciousness." What bothered my correspondent was the nature of this "announcement." Of what does it consist? How may we recognize it? Is it some kind of physical evidence, or what? This whole question is worthy of larger treatment than I can give it in this limited space. But possibly these thoughts will prove helpful to any who may be confused about the nature of spiritual evidence. There is such a thing as the secret workings of the Spirit in the soul of man, for a time unknown and unsuspected by the individual. In fact, most of the fruits of the Spirit are unsuspected by the man i...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th June 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 28th June 2025 6/28 Romans 10:12-13 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." The Judeo-Christian worldview is the only one that can claim to hold the same value on every human life. It holds that all are created in the image of God. That belief alone makes prejudice, bigotry, all forms of abuse, murder, theft, and adultery to be unethical. The secular world cries out against inequality while at the same time teaching Darwinian evolution that declares we are unequal and should fight to rise to the top. God is not biased toward any race or people group. Every soul is precious in His eyes. The riches God gives to those who call on Him are of an eternal nature. He is Lord of all humankind, whether they know it or not. He draws each and every one to Himself. To respond to His work in our hear...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 27

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 27 Tozer in the Morning Mature Living The absence of spiritual devotion today is an omen and a portent. The modern church is all but contemptuous of the sober virtues--meekness, modesty, humility, quietness, obedience, self-effacement, patience. To be accepted now, religion must be in the popular mood. Consequently, much religious activity reeks with pride, display, self-assertion, self-promotion, love of gain and devotion to trivial pleasures. It behooves us to take all this seriously. Time is running out for all of us. What is done must be done quickly. We have no right to lie idly by and let things take their course. A farmer who neglects his farm will soon lose it; a shepherd who fails to look after his flock will find the wolves looking after it for him. A misbegotten charity that allows the wolves to destroy the flock is not charity at all but indifference, rather, and should be known for what it is and dealt with accor...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 27 “Thank Him; Dwell Acceptably ” - Psalms 140:13 Oh, that my heart may be upright, that I may always be able to bless the name of the LORD! He is so good to those that be good, that I would fain be among them and feel myself full of thankfulness every day. Perhaps, for a moment, the righteous are staggered when their integrity results in severe trial; but assuredly the day shall come when they shall bless their God that they did not yield to evil suggestions and adopt a shifty policy. In the long run true men will thank the God of the right for leading them by a right way. Oh, that I may be among them! What a promise is implied in this second clause, "The upright shall dwell in thy presence!" They shall stand accepted where others appear only to be condemned. They shall be the courtiers of the great King, indulged with audience whensoever they desire it. They shall be favored ones upon whom Jehovah...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 27

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 27 Morning “Shall not God search this out?” Amos 9 Again we will read in the book of Amos. He first foretells the sure destruction of Israel. Amos 9:1 Trampling upon the idolatrous altar at Bethel: Amos 9:1 The pillars of the temple were to be cleft asunder, and in their fall to destroy their worshippers; while those who escaped would be pursued by justice; Amos 9:2-4 The passage we have just read is one of the most wonderful descriptions of omnipresence ever written, even by an inspired pen. Amos 9:5-7 They were thus warned not to rely upon past privileges. When they ceased to regard him as peculiarly their God, he made light of all that he had done for them, and reminded them of great things which he had done for other nations. Amos 9:8-10 The prophecy we are now reading is not unmingled evil, it has also joyful tidings concerning glorious times to come. Amos 9:11 , Amos 9:12 David’s royal house in the pers...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 27

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 27 “Be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18) Some of the effects of being filled with the Spirit are: 1. Holiness of heart and life. This is not the perfection of the human nature, but the holiness of the divine nature dwelling within. 2. Fulness of joy so that the heart is constantly radiant. This does not depend on circumstances, but fills the spirit with holy laughter in the midst of the most trying surroundings. 3. Fulness of wisdom, light and knowledge, causing us to see things as He sees them. 4. An elevation, improvement and quickening of the mind by an ability to receive the fulfilment of the promise, “We have the mind of Christ.” 5. An equal quickening of the physical life. The body was made for the Holy Ghost, as well as the mind and soul. 6. An ability to pray the prayer of the Holy Ghost. If He is in us there will be a strange accordance with God’s working in the world around us. There is a divine harmony between the Spiri...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 27th June 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 27th June 2025 6/27 Romans 9:30-31 30 What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. You can never be so bad that God's mercy and grace cannot save you, but you may think you are too good to accept the fact that you need His mercy and grace. As Gentiles came into the family of God with grateful hearts, Jews began to harden themselves toward this new expression of the Gentiles' faith. The One like Moses, Jesus, had changed the law in ways that made them uncomfortable (Deuteronomy 18:15). No longer were the rituals enough to make one feel right with God. Now the apostles were challenging the Jews to accept that Jesus was God's sacrifice for their sins. That was humbling. It was also uncomfortable, because the Jewish leaders looked down on and even perse...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 26

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 26 “It Will Not Be Long ” - James 5:8 The last word in the Canticle of love is, "Make haste, my beloved," and among the last words of the Apocalypse we read, "The Spirit and the Bride say, Come"; to which the heavenly Bridegroom answers, "Surely I come quickly." Love longs for the glorious appearing of the LORD and enjoys this sweet promise - "The coming of the LORD draweth nigh." This stays our minds as to the future. We look out with hope through this window. This sacred "window of agate" lets in a flood of light upon the present and puts us into fine condition for immediate work or suffering. Are we tired? Then the nearness of our joy whispers patience. Are we growing weary because we do not see the harvest of our seed-sowing? Again this glorious truth cries to us, "Be patient." Do our multiplied temptations cause us in the least to waver? Then th...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 26

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 26 Tozer in the Morning Faith Despite Feeling or Sight A fanatic is somebody seeking desirable ends but ignoring constituted means. Seeking to get out of the religious rut is a desirable end. It is right and it is in the will of God. But trying to do it in a manner that is not according to God"s constituted means is all wrong and gets us nowhere. When they want to get blessed, some people try getting worked up psychologically. There are some who, while they have not studied psychology, are master psychologists. They know how to manipulate audiences, knowing when to lower their voices and when to raise them, when to make them sound very sad and all the rest. They know how to get people all worked up. . . . Some people try group dynamics. We all sit around together and practice togetherness, and by practicing togetherness we finally work up some spirituality. What is needed is some old-fashioned, salty horse sense. I am sure t...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 26

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 26 Morning “Hate evil.” Amos 5:14-27 Our present lesson consists of another portion of the prophecies of Amos. Amos 5:14 You boast of his being with you, but if you wish him to be really so, you must seek him and follow his ways. To boast of our religious privileges, as though God was certainly with us because we go to a place of worship is mere vain glory; God dwells only with the contrite in heart. Amos 5:15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate where courts of justice were held Amos 5:15 If men have only a may be, they ought to be earnest in seeking salvation; how much more should we be eager for eternal life when we have sure promises and divine shalls and wills. Amos 5:16 The husbandman shall be so disappointed in his harvest that he shall lament as those do who bury the dead. Harvest home shall be mournful as a funeral. Amos 5:17 In the place where joy was most manifest sh...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 26

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 26 “When He saw the multitudes He was moved” (Matthew 9:36) He is able to be “touched with the feeling of our infirmities.” The word “touched” expresses a great deal. It means that our troubles are His troubles, and that in all our afflictions He is afflicted. It is not a sympathy of sentiment, but a sympathy of suffering. There is much help in this for the tired heart. It is the foundation of His Priesthood, and God meant that it should be to us a source of unceasing consolation. Let us realize, more fully, our oneness with our Great High Priest, and cast all our burdens on His great heart of love. If we know what it is to ache in every nerve with the responsive pain of our suffering child, we can form some idea of how our sorrows touch His heart, and thrill His exalted frame. As the mother feels her babe’s pain, as the heart of friendship echoes every cry from another’s woe, so in heaven, our exalted Saviour, even amid the raptures of ...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 26th June 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 26th June 2025 6/26 Romans 8:35 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? Following Jesus does not exempt us from suffering. In fact, we are more likely to suffer physically as Christians. This is the same chapter in which Paul wrote that God will not withhold any good thing from us. Because God is sovereign over the details of our lives, the list of difficulties in our verse for today must in some way be good for our eternal well-being. If the love of Christ is with us in the midst of these situations, what do we have to fear? And if our suffering is for His sake (Romans 8:36), then we are sure to be storing up our treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:20). If you are looking for a life of physical comfort, you won't find it in Christ. But living for comfort will bring soul distress that comes with unbelief. When you live with the uncertainties of health,...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 25

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for June 25 Morning “Thou wilt bring down high looks.” 2 Chronicles 25:14-24 , 2 Chronicles 25:27 , 2 Chronicles 25:28 2 Chronicles 25:14 This was madness itself, for if the gods of Edom had been worth anything they would have helped their former worshippers. It is wonderful that a man can bow down before that which he carries away captive, but is it not even more strange that others should adore a piece of bread, which they afterwards eat? 2 Chronicles 25:16 Those who will not hear must feel; no sign of evil is more sure than a refusal to listen to the Lord’s warnings. Victory had made Amaziah proud, and pride became the mother of many sins: the lower we are in our own esteem the better. 2 Chronicles 25:17 Probably because the hired Israelitish soldiers, whom he had dismissed, had plundered the towns and villages on their way home, Amaziah desired vengeance; therefore in his pride he sent a haughty challenge to the k...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 25

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for June 25 “Who leadeth us in triumph” (2 Corinthians 2:14) Every victor must first be a self-conqueror. But the method of Joshua’s victory was the uplifted arm of Moses on the Mount. As he held up his hands Joshua prevailed, as he lowered them Amalek prevailed. It was to be a battle of faith and not of human strength, and the banner that was to wave over the discomfited foe, “Jehovah-nissi.” This, too, is the secret of our spiritual triumph. “If we are led of the Spirit we shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh.” “Sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under the law but under grace.” Have we thus begun the battle and in the strength of Christ planted our feet on our own necks, and thus victorious over the enemy in the citadel of the heart been set at liberty for the battle of the Lord and the service of others? It was the lack of this that hindered the life of Saul and it has wrecked many a promising career. One enemy in the hear...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 25

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for June 25 Tozer in the Morning Faithless Action and Actionless Faith Rightly understood, faith is not a substitute for moral conduct but a means toward it. The tree does not serve in lieu of fruit but as an agent by which fruit is secured. Fruit, not trees, is the end God has in mind in yonder orchard; so Christlike conduct is the end of Christian faith. To oppose faith to works is to make the fruit the enemy to the tree; yet that is exactly what we have managed to do. And the consequences have been disastrous. A miscalculation in laying the foundation of a building will throw the whole superstructure out of plumb, and the error that gave us faith as a substitute for action instead of faith in action has raised up in our day unsymmetrical and ugly temples of which we may well be ashamed, and for which we shall surely give a strict account in the day when Christ judges the secrets of our hearts. Tozer in the Evening CONFESSING OUR LO...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 25

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for June 25 “A Staircase to Heaven ” - John 1:51 Yes, to our faith this sight is plain even at this day. We do see heaven opened. Jesus Himself has opened that kingdom to all believers. We gaze into the place of mystery and glory, for He has revealed it to us. We shall enter it soon, for He is the way. Now we see the explanation of Jacob’s ladder. Between earth and heaven there is a holy commerce; prayer ascends, and answers come down by the way of Jesus, the Mediator. We see this ladder when we see our LORD. In Him a stairway of light now furnishes a clear passage to the throne of the Most High. Let us use it and send up by it the messengers of our prayers. We shall live the angelic life ourselves if we run up to heaven in intercession, lay hold upon the blessings of the covenant, and then descend again to scatter those gifts among the sons of men. This choice sight which Jacob only saw in a dream will turn into a br...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 25th June 2025

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 25th June 2025 6/25 Romans 8:32 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Those who have accepted the work Jesus accomplished for them on the cross should realize the implications of this verse. If God would allow His one and only Son to suffer and die for you, is there any good thing He would withhold from you? The redeemed soul recognizes that good things are not material blessings that would distract us from our relationship with God. Good things are spiritual blessings in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:3). Those good things draw us deeper into a love relationship with God. This reasoning goes right along with Jesus telling the disciples that the Father will not withhold good things from His children when they ask (Luke 11:13). We have access to unlimited resources. You can be certain that if the thing you ask for in prayer is good for you, you will receive it. I...
