Worthy Brief - February 4, 2026

Worthy Brief - February 4, 2026 Through the sea, toward transformation!  1 Corinthians 10:1  Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea. Exodus 14:13-16  And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14  The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace." 15  And the LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16  But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Israel’s passage through the Red Sea was a moment of undeniable deliverance and salvation. Chains were broken, enemies were defeated, and a nation walked out of captivity in a single night. Egypt w...

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for February 4

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for February 4 “Lo, I am with you alway” (Matthew 28:20) This living Christ is not the person that was, but the person that still is, your living Lord. At Preston Pans, near Edinburgh, I looked on the field where in the olden days armies were engaged in contest. In the crisis of the battle the chieftain fell wounded. His men were about to shrink away from the field when they saw their leader’s form go down; their strong hands held the claymore with trembling grip, and they faltered for a moment. Then the old chieftain rallied strength enough to rise on his elbow and cry: “I am not dead, my children, I am only watching you—to see my clansmen do their duty.” And so from the other side of Calvary He is speaking; we cannot see Him, but He says, “Lo, I am with you alway, even to the end of the world”; and He puts it, “I am”—an uninterrupted and continuous presence. Not “I will be,” but the unbroken presence still is with us forevermore. Soon the confl...

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for February 4

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for February 4 Morning  “I will work, and who shall let it.”  Job 38:1-11 , Job 38:16 , Job 38:17 , Job 38:22 , Job 38:23 , Job 38:31-41  When the three accusers were silent, when Elihu had concluded his eloquent address, and Job had no more to say, the Lord himself interposed, and as with a long succession of thunderclaps hushed every heart and voice into awe.  Job 38:2  How solemn is that word “Who is this?” Is it a poor, weak, foolish man? Is it Job? My servant Job! Does he speak of that which he cannot understand and venture to complain of his God? Our wisdom is only wisdom when it admits its own folly.  Job 38:3-7  We know nothing of the common things of God, how foolish we are to think that we can pry into his arcana, and lay bare his mysterious secrets. We had better sing with angels, than doubt with devils. The angels all sang, sang together, and sang with one common joy. O for such un...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for February 4

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for February 4 “He Will Return ”  - John 14:18 He left us, and yet we are not left orphans. He is our comfort, and He is gone; but we are not comfortless. Our comfort is that He will come to us, and this is consolation enough to sustain us through His prolonged absence. Jesus is already on His way: He says, "I come quickly": He rides posthaste toward us. He says, "I will come": and none can prevent His coming, or put it back for a quarter of an hour. He specially says, "I will come to you"; and so He will. His coming is specially to and for His own people. This is meant to be their present comfort while they mourn that the Bridegroom doth not yet appear.  When we lose the joyful sense of His presence we mourn, but we may not sorrow as if there were no hope. Our LORD in a little wrath has hid Himself from us for a moment, but He will return in full favor. He leaves us in a sense, but only ...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for February 4

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for February 4 Tozer in the Morning The Wrong Kind of Teachers The newborn Christian finds himself alive with a sweet, enjoyable kind of life that he accepts naively, almost unconsciously. To him everything is simple and immediate. He knows no intermediary. Christ is to him on an infinitely higher level what its mother is to a baby--warmth, nourishment, protection, rest and an object of satisfying affection.  Right here is where the wrong kind of Bible teacher can do his damage. The first thing he does is to destroy the new Christian's simplicity. He introduces something between the Christian and Christ. He makes him Biblo-centric instead of Christo-centric. (And there is a difference, let no one deceive you.) The Spirit-anointed Bible teacher will so teach the Word as to keep it transparent, so as to allow it to be what it always should be, a kind of burning bush which God indwells and out of which He shines in awesome splendor....
